Unfortunately PS3 does play directly off the disc like you said. The 360 version installs the DLC from disc 2 and can be used with any standard copy.

Ordered one myself and chose the "Pay Now" option to attempt to avoid a confrontation when picking it up.  Planning on ordering the CE from Square anyway so this is a good fall-back

I justified it since these systems will still be relevant in 4 years unlike whatever 2013 tablets are out. Plus game releases are few and far between after a console launch, so that gives you time to breathe. That and holiday time off from work!

If you're going to buy CoD anyway, you could put the $53 towards the 360 digital version which allows for a $10 digital upgrade. That would be $17 out of pocket (plus tax) for the digital XBONE version, plus 360 to play now, if you were buying it anyway.

I went to Best Buy today to pre-order Ryse and Dead Rising 3, but it looks like they stopped taking in-store pre-orders.  Anyone else run into this?  I was able to reserve Ghosts in store a few weeks back.

I was actually denied the $15 coupon with the $38 price.  The manager didn't give any specific reason, but just said "I'm sorry I can't accept that."  I was going to argue, but I've found in the past it gets you nowhere. I didn't realize manufacturer's coupons were ever subject to manager...
