$130 is just TOO MUCH for a PS2 (PStwo)

CAGiversary!
When will the PStwo (redesigned, smaller version) be less than $100?!

My nephew wants one for his birthday (he already has a Wii + Gamecube accessories). I refuse to buy hardware such as this second-hand unless the condition is excellent and it has some kind of warranty. In other words, I'm looking for the best deal on a brand new PS2.

Does anyone know of a national retailer with a good deal? Surely someone is offering it for ~$100...right?

sony has no reason to lower the price yet...your best bet would be used with a warrenty...or trade stuff in to bring the price down a little

Check your local FYE. They run rebates on them every now and then. I got mine for $129 - $50MIR. Last time I was there, they had them for $129 - $30MIR

Got my rebate nice and quick too.

I do applaud your cheapness. However it seems that there are no such options at this time. As previously stated though, it is rumored that it will drop to $99 before the end of the year.
If the Meijer sale is stil going on you can get one for 110$ shipped.
I see a Meijer's deal on another deal site that is only 20% off, not free shipping. Thanks, though.

It is the best deal you will get.

What everyone else said. Also, $130 is not too much for a system that has a better game selection than the Xbox and Gamecube combined.
Buy a PS3.

You can then experience the best that the entire Sony Playstation 1/2/3 lines can offer.
Also you won't have to worry about that extra $371 dollars burning a hole in your pocket. phew!
Costco gives good bundles like $140 for ps2, extra controller, memory card, and 2 games
$199 at my local Costco

i got my PS2 a long time ago for $120. About 4 years ago. It wasn't new though. But it was after I bought a new one and switched it out when it broke.

That's the best cheapest way to get a new one I think. Either that or if you can reason it out buy a PS3 at Craigslist, on ebay, or here on the site. I've seen PS3's since December off and on for as low as $300.

I picked up a 20gb for $350 US so I only overpaid $220. I think that's something I can manage to forgive myself for.

Yay, Craigslist!

You can do that on PS2 alone.

haha. SNAP

Also:

Someone has issues with spending $130, and you tell them to buy a PS3. Really?
im still suprised these things are selling... i still see cubes as well for 99
Yes, but people buy the PS2's.

Yes. It's all about what can be considered a good value. Showing up with a PS3 will make him the bestest uncle ever.

If he wants to cheap out on a new system you can either buy used, or find one that "fell of the truck".

Right, spend $500 instead of $130 and you'll be able to experience everything. Except Guitar Hero. And Beatmania, Taiko Drum Master, Time Crisis, Dance Dance Revlotion and anything with rumble.
