First off, it's Microsoft. What more do you expect from them with their quality track record?
Second off, I'd be curious to know just how many of those sales that put them ahead of the PS3 were from exactly this kind of situation.
I came close to buying an Xbox once or twice, but I never pulled the trigger because I want a console that will still work 4 or 5 years from now. Sadly, even the new slim models have already had reports of Red Dot of Death (the new RROD).
I guess it just sickens me that so many gamers continue to put up with this inexcusable crap from Microsoft.
I agree 100%, a console should last no fewer than 5 years of constant play. i still have my original snes, genesis, ps1, n64, dreamcast. and they all still work fine, i've had my 60gb ps3 for 5 years and it still works great. the 360 is the only console i've ever saw that could possibly die the same week you buy it. it does add alot of tension to the games though, every i'm afraid it's gonna red ring again. i'm on my second console(core system died last year, got a good deal on the elite). if it red rings again microsoft can go

themselves, i'll stick with Sony and Nintendo who actually care about building a reliable console. Microsoft doesn't care, there making too much money from all the idiots buying 5+ consoles.
