I just got a 360, I dont have a hdtv. I was thinking I could pick up the VGA video cable and connect the 360 to my PC monitor.

But my pc monitor doesnt have any built in speakers. I have a great set of Klipsch pc speakers, but they dont have the red/white RCA inputs for the 360's audio cables. My Klipsch speakers just have the standard PC audio jacks, the green and pink connectors that look like headphone plugs.

My question is, is there some kinda converter/adapter that would allow me to use my pc speaker connectors with the 360?

I checked the stickied 360 faq thread and didnt see anything about this. I'd love to get some 720p goodness from my pc monitor, but without sound its kinda worthless.

Thanks

Yeah, you need an adapter that turns the red and white audio cables into a green computer-speaker cable. Sorry, that was the best way I could describe it. :D

What model is your audio system? If it has an external mini-jack for other connections like MP3 players (same size as a normal headphone plug--not an actual headphone jack, btw) you can get an RCA to mini-jack 3.5mm adapter at Radio Shack.

This will work, I used it for my vga box for original xbox.

I dont think those cables will work. I'll try to explain.

My pc speakers are the original Klipsch 4.1's. They dont have any extra inputs for anything on them. The wire for the 2 front speakers ends in a male 3.5mm connector. Thats what I plug into my pc's soundcard. That cable is hardwired into one of the front speakers.

And the xbox vga cable audio ends in two male rca connectors.

So I have two male rca's that I need to connect to a male 3.5mm headphone.

I need a little cable with 2 female rca's into one female 3.5mm headphone jack. So i can stick the xbox audio L/R into one end, and my speakers male 3.5mm into the other end.

Thanks guys for your help. You put me on the right track. I just ran over to radio shack and got two little items that I think will do the trick.

I got a 2 rca female into 1 3.5mm male. And then a 3.5mm female to female. So if I stick those two together I have what I need.

Now I need to find a cheapass VGA cable for the 360. The one at Best Buy is $45. Im torn right now between being a cheapassgamer and an impatientassgamer who wants to play Gears in 720p tonight dammit! lol

$10 used, you'll notice the difference between the official and the cheap Play-Asia ones. This thread has been done to death. =P
Im sure it has. I did look around before I made this thread but I didnt see anything closely related to my problem. Im a total 360 noob. I just got it this week, just hooked it up last night and played some Gears, which was awesome, but 360 on a sdtv makes Puffa cry... =(
i know exactly what you need, i had the same problem.

just noticed it was unavailable, i did pick it up about 4 months ago for 5 dollars from amazon.
Thats the very thing I need all in one piece! I put it on my wishlist in case it comes back in stock.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU!

I just ran over to my local Gamestop and they had a used one in stock for $10. Since its b2g1 free, I grabbed a Cube game for $10 and I found a MINT copy of Kung Fu Chaos for Xbox for my free game. So for half the price of a new cable, I got the cable and 2 games, one fairly uncommon!

Now I have everything I need. In about 2-1/2 hours I'll be playing Gears in 720p! =D

wait don't monitors do "1080p". Cuz I can tell a difference in quality when I play on my HDTV and my monitor.

Well my monitor can do 1080p, but you can only get native 1080p with an HDMI connection, which only the elite 360 has. Plus I dont even think any 360 games support 1080p yet.
I feel like I'm missing something here.

My VGA cables had the audio converter in the box.
I thought it only came with the red/white to headphones adapter?

You guys are talking about the same thing. The official VGA cable does come with it.

If your speakers work for your computer, it will work for the VGA, trust me. You just need an input/output to connect the red/white part.
