3DS bottom screen flicker

I've noticed when playing Virtual Console games that the gray area on the bottom screen has like a flicker or striations that run from top to bottom constantly. Is something wrong with my system or is this normal?

Edit, I played with the brightness, and it only appears when the brightness is set to 3, which is what I play at most often. I feel like my eyes are playing tricks on me.

Happens to me occasionally as well, so it isn't just you. Probably a loose connection somewhere.
