Are they standard alkaline or the lithium type? The only kind of disposable AAs I use anymore are the lithium ones because they are significantly lighter than standard alkaline or NiMH chemistries (and therefore are good for use in mice), and they also perform a lot better in extreme cold weather (so good for flashlights for outdoor use in the winter, etc).
