Amazon is selling the discontinued 40GB iPod Photo for $360.05 ($379 at the Apple Store and most other places). That's only about $10 more than the current 30GB iPod photo's MSRP of $349.

As far as I know, the 40GB model is the same in every way to the 30GB one except the obvious 10GB difference and a slight weight loss for the 30GB model. Plus the 40GB model comes with accessories that the newer 30GB one does not, namely the dock, carrying case, AV cable and Firewire cable.

I applied for an Amazon Visa (which really wasn't a hassle at all) and got an instant $30 discount for the purchase. I'd also been using the A9.com search engine for a couple days so I was given the 1.57% savings reward which comes out to $5.18 off. With no tax or shipping charges, I paid $324.87 total.

Considering that the device was selling for $500 just a few months ago, this deal was just too good for me to pass up even though I was ready to buy an iRiver prior to this purchase.

Umm, the title seems a lil misleading. I was thinking it was 360.05 - 324.87 = $35.18 and was getting all happy on myself. Nice deal though if that kinda thing was what you were looking for.

Very sorry about that, I'd forgotten to finalize the text for the post title. I've changed it now to avoid further confusion.
