5.99 Foam DDR PS2 pad at Geeks.com

They had a deal on these a couple of months ago. I ordered a couple and the pads are still in good condition. The biggest problem I had with them was the way they were shipped. I think everyone who ordered at the time complained about the fact that they were sent in half broken boxes with things falling out of them. Nonetheless, the pads were in perfect condition and have worked great so far.

To clarify, the dance pad boxes were half broken or the shipping box? If stuff is falling out of the dance pad box into the shipping box, that's no big deal. If stuff is falling out of the shipping box...that's bad.

The dance pad box= the shipping box.

That was exactly the problem. They didn't put the dance pad box into a shipping box. They just shipped them in the original packaging... not the smartest of ideas.

I ordered 2 last time and they were placed into another box -- did you order 1, or more than 1?

Ordered 2 of them. I'd link you to the old thread where everyone got theirs just like mine, but I'm too lazy to look. Sorry.

Do these really have 1" foam under them? That is, the pad I have has foam that you had to put inside and zip up. Is this the same? If it is, I will order one so I can do two player with my wife. If it's not the same, she probably won't like it.

No it is just the normal cheap pad, not the nice one with extra foam inserts.

Wow, I wonder how they get away with saying it's got 1" foam insert and weighs 3.5 pounds... Back to RedOctane for me.

They do have some foam in them, but not a piece the size of the full pad -- there's a foam block under each of the arrows, but my best guess would be that's its only about 1/4" or so.

That it was -- and they were only $5.36 after coupons then as well.

Compgeeks.com has free shipping (codes) once in a blue moon. It's one of those websites which charges a gross shipping fee on every single item (usually around $7 or so.) ...which makes any "great prices" from their site a lot less attractive (except for that one time the SLICKDEALS code was activated for free shipping!)

umcthomas, I believe these pads have little pieces of foam under the arrows, but not anywhere else. I think the foam pieces are stiched into place, thus forming immobile pockets (a simple, cheap way of cutting down on production costs, eh?)

They probably used this kind of math...

1/4" * 4 = 1"

Eh, I'm thinking about getting some metal pads off Ebay and building a dedicated DDR cabinet.

Aren't there also some 3" foam pads?

Ordered a few a few months back when they were $4 - still working! Not the gretest, and won't work well if you're hardcore DDR-er, but for a casual player, these work really fucking well.
