CAGiversary!
Ridge Racer 7, Gran Turismo HD, NBA 2K7, Virtua Tennis 3 and Mobile Suit Gundam: Target in Sight are all playable in 1080p. Good sign for Sony that all these games are already running at that resolution.

some not so good news

Beyond all that, Coded Arms Assault is just another derivative first-person shooter. It offers nothing to set itself apart from the crowd, including its paltry visuals (shown at 720p, though you'd be hard-pressed to notice). We'd consider this a mediocre PlayStation 2 game, and it's supposed to be next-gen? Tsk, tsk, ..

No it didn't...I think he's just trying to make the PS3 look bad.

Yes, it would appear my perfectly good topic has already been 'fanboyed'.

Is that like getting Punk'd?

further off topic-- it seems like Joystiq has been fanboyed as well.

I think Sony's doing a much better job of making the PS3 look bad.

Joystiq and Kotaku have always been fanboy oriented. That's why I don't read shitty blogs. It's just a shame these idiots get press credibility.

I've visited them once in a while, but their whole attitude with those review round ups was just shitty. Not saying that cause they're not in favor of those games, but because their logic and writing skills are just awful.

I completely agree.

yeah, my bad the first one didn't but the last two were about the games they showed off being 720p instead of their much touted 1080p. why would they choose to do that?

When were DMC4 and Coded Arms ever touted as having 1080p?

Yeah, Sony has never said all games would be 1080p, but that it was a possible feature. I'm not even sure Sony has ever officially said that all games would be HD? Regardless, consider 1080p a nice extra feature when it's there, but not something that will be standardized.

Well to be honest Sony's doing that for themselves. Click the links; Sony's Keynote Speach was easily the worst ever, while each of the playable games on the floor were disapointing. The best looking game (from both a graphics & gmaeplay perspective) was DMC4, but judging from the gamplay videos (again, from the links), the gameplay looks like a sweet looking DMC3. Not saying that's a bad thing, after all DMC3 does kick all sorts of ass, but it's dissapointing that there's nothing NExt-Gen.

Sony needs to show off a game that can't be done on the 360 (without some work arounds, I'll admit). So far there's nothing.

Thanks for the report on your trip to TGS. It's much appreciated.

Okay, granted I didn't sit thourgh the experience myself, but from description and pretty much unaminous press opinion anyone can come to the obvious conclusion.

How so? Just from a quick glance at Gamespot's hands-on articles for PS3 stuff, they specifically mentioned that they liked:

Lair
Resistance
F1 World Championship
Warhawk
flOw
Monster Kingdom
Virtua Fighter 5

While I, and probably you, have not seen what every part of the press have said about the games, I haven't much talk about games being disappointing or bad. While the keynote wasn't that informative, as Sony intended it not to be with their own press event later in the show, not much was really disappointing except for things that people seemed to hype for no reason. There's plenty to like about the games being showing at TGS, unless you're not interested in any of them, which may be the case from you.

Edit: And about the press being down on the PS3:

In the meantime, keep an eye on 1up's TGS page for a spirited roundtable discussion with Sam, Scooter, Tommy B, and myself that we filmed after Sony's incredibly useful first-party hands-on event this evening. Anyone who has doubts about the PS3's power, its killer lineup, and its prospects might be surprised that we all came away with positive impressions of the PS3 lineup at TGS. I feel that Sony has really delivered here, and I'm not alone--nearly every journalist I spoke to today echoed my sentiments about the PS3. Impressive playables, crucial exclusives, and a pipeline stuffed with promising titles in every genre...yep, this is where I'll be playing a lot of my games for the next few years.

Well, honestly, I haven't seen anything on the 360 that interested me as much as in both graphics and gameplay as Lair and Resistance. Maybe Oblivion. Otherwise, I haven't seen anything comparable on the 360, really. But I haven't played them, so who knows? VF5 looks better than any 360 fighter, as well.

Now, that is not to say there aren't good games on the 360, but I may be in the minority in saying the PS3's lineup, small though it may be, is more impressive to me. Right now the 360 looks mostly like PC ports to me, and the games that aren't seem to be getting ported to the PS3 with upgrades. Maybe I will feel differently once Mass Effect and Halo 3 hit, but right now I think the 360 needs to start pulling out some big guns. Especially if Sony lowers their prices worldwide.

Of course, I do generally prefer Japanese style games than American. Which I suppose explains me leaning more toward Sony. I still think Nintendo might possibly have the most interesting releases this fall.

Yes, because I ususally make my purchasing decisions based on someone's opinion of a keynote speech that has nothing to do with the actual gameplay on a system.
Add NBA 07 to the list of 1080p games at the show. I know that this one will sell the system to several of you.
Ah, definitely a big deal for me. The more sports games they can get in 1080p, the better for me.
