Edit: More complete list here. Sorted by highest price to show the 50 movie packs. Thanks brian101.

These are packs of public domain movies slapped onto double sided DVDs (usually 2 movies per side) with basically no regard for quality. They basically save you the trouble of (legally) downloading each movie. If you enjoy watching... crap, in a make-your-own-MST3K sort of way, I can speak very highly of the Horror Pack. Some of the movies are actually good, so while you might want to buy things like Night of the Living Dead or Metropolis in quality editions, you can get a feel for them here for about a quarter each.

Thanks, it's a good deal for people unskilled in Hand-Puppet Theatre. I own the Nightmare Worlds one, and it is just that.

I have the "chilling classics" pack, and, as has been said, you might as well just plan MST3K parties around each and every one.

I'm going to tc, and tell you that all of these movies suck. All of those movies are public domain. What does public domain mean? Well it means that these movie suck so much ass, the movie company wouldn't even renew the copyright.

..........right. The vast majority of these films were filmed at smaller studios that couldn't last the 80-odd years since they were invented. I can personally vouch for the horror pack. Even though the quality of the print isn't that good it has a ton of classics on it including Nosferatu, Metropolis, White Zombie, Carnival of Souls, and Night of the Living Dead. There are tons of stinkers in these packs, but there are a significant number of great films in there that such a sweeping statement like that is moronic.

Now thats a movie pack I'll buy.

How the fuck are you going to call me moronic when you agree with me. See the bold text if you don't understand.

You bought the Horror pack so your opinion is going to be biased. Those movies may be good to you but its a subjective thing. Your a horror fan for one. Secondly not everyone likes low budget horror flicks. just because you like 5 public domain movies out of the 50 doesn't meant its worth buying for $14. No does it?

You might like the 1950's version of Night of the living dead. Doesn't mean everyone will. I've seen it before, and it sucks. Its not a classic, its not even a great film.

Wasnt night of the living dead made in 1968 or is this so other film ?

If your talking about the 1960s night of the living dead it was one of the best horror movies of its time. Name one movie today that is good as that was for its time

nothing is

First off. Stop. Night of the Living Dead was not released in the 50s. It was released in 1968. Secondly, I didn't agree with you. I said there were some sucky movies in the pack. You said all movies out of copyright suck. Thirdly, the five films I picked out weren't the only films I liked. Rather, they were and are films that are perceived as classics. Night of the Living Dead is a relatively subtle discussion of racism in America that is held relatively high in film scholarship. Whether you like it or not, Night of the Living Dead is considered a classic.

Furthermore, films like Nosferatu, Metropolis, and the Cabinet of Dr. Calagari (on the thrillers pack I think) are three of the quintessential full length features of the silent era. I only mentioned five films out of the fifty because I didn't want to list every film I liked on all of these packs. I'm not disagreeing that there's a lot of bad films on these packs. I take issue with your incredibly ignorant and sweeping statement that any film out of copyright sucks.

Let's all just respect one another's opinions and leave it at that.

Ya know what I mean, Verne? I like Jim Varney's Earnest movies. Sure they are stupid and shallow, but so are alot of people who post on CAG.

I had an ex-girlfriend who was addicted to old 40s-50s era movies and would watch the TCM channel all day and nite, so I've sloshed thru my fare share of old B&W stinkers. But the truth be told, there are some gems in some of these collections that many people may enjoy but might never give them the chance just because they are public domain.

This thread lists alot of great movies to watch while you are drunk, and some of these old flicks in these collections really fit the bill (because me and my ex were usually pretty wasted watching some of these old bombs, and the best way to get thru them was to be drunk making fun of them MST3K-style.)

No, none of the movies in these collections won any Oscars, but that's not the point. If you are entertained by the movie, however it is enjoyed (sober, drunk, high, or standing upside down on your head), you're gonna get your money's worth. Just don't buy them if you don't think you'll be entertained.
I thought Metropolis was a Sci-fi movie (at least for the 1930s)
1927, and it is sci-fi. But it's still in the horror pack.
Bah, they're all full-screen.
Joking? Anyway, most of these films were... filmed in full screen, so these discs can tout the ORIGINAL ASPECT RATIO! for many of films. Not that it matters in this case.
