512 MU for XBOX 360 ($15.49 used)

BaratoGamer

CAGiversary!
This seller has about 7 left. eBay's "Buy it now" option would be $15.49 = ($11.99+$3.50 USPS shipping).

These are used but its about half off (New: $24.99 on amazon, $29.99 retail).

eBay seller name is "gamers_factory" (new users can't post links)

Man, it really would have helped to know what "MU" stood for. I ended up having to look it up by price. >_>;

For anyone wondering, it's a 512 Megabyte "Memory Unit" or Memory Card for 360.

Where does he say these are the official Microsoft memory units?

Microsoft is disabling people with knockoffs so I wouldn't buy these

The Memory Units are easily portable and enable quick and easy access to previously established benchmarks, putting you in control of your games and your lifestyle.

I didn't know I could take control of my lifestyle with this thing. In for 10.
Nothing here says they are official MS memory units, which means they will be worthless if used in 360s with the latest update

You're very right, if these aren't official MS products, then they'll be out of comission on the new update .

pic looks real but that doesn't mean much, it's just some random file photo of a 512 unit, though i've not seen much in the way of 3rd party MU's anyway, cept for the one that lets you use microSD cards for storage (was so tempted, glad i passed on it)

if these ARE real, then they're a frigging great pickup.

Ha ha. Yeah my Sears has shelves full of them [sarcasm]. Before anyone runs out to Sears thinking they will get one for $2, just know you would be extremely lucky to find one. Very YMMV.

Anti-3rd party, charges annual subscription for online service, wants $100 for wireless adapter, had all the RRoD issues, costs the same as the PS3.

Why do people support 360 so much?

Mass hysteria and/or brainwashing. Me, I was too stupid to figure out that Microsoft hates it's customers.

As for those MUs the picture is depicting an official Microsoft product, so I'd think the seller would be engaging in a false advertising scenario if it's a knockoff. Of course, I got burned on a Chinese 120GB HDD, which the seller took back and refunded when I voiced my dissatisfaction. $15 might be worth the risk, but that's still going to set me back $3.50 if I'm wrong. Thanks for the heads up OP.

Yeah, because an ebay seller would NEVER cut corners on the truth or say something like, 'it works on my 1 year old arcade 360, which by the way, I've never connected to xbox live with, so I'm being truthful."

This is a pro seller with 93K+ feedback and they should know to say it was official MS merch if it actually is.

On a related note, amazon has 512MB MS ones for $24.99 at the moment.

A pro seller wont put his reputation on the line like this, and plus he allows refund.

I know nothing about this seller and this could easily be all 100% straight up but I've learned the hard way that you shouldn't assume anything on ebay unless it is clearly stated in the auction text. And with sellers that sell alot, they can afford to take 'we'll worry about it IF someone complains' viewpoint....with 30K feedback in the last 12 months, they can piss off alot of people without too much damage to their rating...as it is, there are 150 negatives in the last 12 months alone. The seller might be taking a calculated risk, knowing that a fair number of 360 users never connect to xbox live, and thus a 3rd party memory card would work fine (or at least long enough not to be an issue of the seller)....likewise, the seller may not be aware of the upcoming update that locks out 3rd party memory, or it might be an official MS card and there won't be any problem at all. However, using the logic of 'sellers say it works, therefore it must be official merch' is not a sound approach, at least in my experience on buying things on ebay. Yes, the seller takes returns but you'll be out shipping on both ways if turns out to be a 3rd party card.

Also I believe the xbox update that disables 3rd party memory cards has not been pushed through to all xbox live users (just preview program users) but it should happen to all xbox live users on Nov 17th, so technically there isn't an issue regardless if it is 1st or 3rd party memory at this moment in time. MS announced this ahead of it taking effect so people could move their saves prior to the update....after the update, the 3rd party cards won't be even able to be read by the 360

i sent the seller a question if they were official ones... he said yes... but i was too late on getting one... all sold out... any other deals? i would like to have one since i have two xboxs...

Only people in the dashboard update preview have 3rd party memory cards disabled, everyone else gets it tomorrow, on Nov 17th
Am I missing something?? Why would anyone want a 512mb memory card for $15??
I was kind of thinking the same thing. But to each his own, I'd personally rather have a used/refurb 20 GB official 360 hdd for a few dollars more.

The memory cards are pretty convenient if you need portability with your gamertag or certain saves (multiple systems, friend's house, etc.) - hard drive isn't really applicable in those situations.

Oh wow I had no idea you could use the Memory Unit to conveniently use your gamertag on another 360. Do they fit on the 256mb cards as well?
Am I missing something?? Why would anyone want a 512mb memory card for $15??
because it's a 360 memory card and MSRP on those is 29.99 (and is still 49 some places)

Being that when the Xbox 360 first came out, the MU was only 64MB, yes, Gamertags do fit on it. I managed to find a 64MB MU at my local AAFES BX for $5 about a year ago. Its great for swapping between the two consoles at my house. Haven't yet had to/needed to use it on foreign consoles though.

Yah when sears had the 64mb ones for $5 I picked up a bunch for my friends and I. We use them all the time to bring our gamertags to e/o houses.

Exactly. I love when people chime in about a clearance deal, especially at Sears. It's not a sure thing.

You forgot about insanely inflating the price of their memory units and hard drives.
