That is right!
I was told that yesterday.
20% of 360s pre-orders will get their system on LAUNCH WEEK(not 11/22)
20% more will get them by X-mas!!
I reserved mine on August 12th, and don't get mine on LAUNCH WEEK.
Now I am out my XBOX system and games that I traded in towards my promised 360 on LAUNCH DAY!!
Customer Service employees blame everything on MICROSOFT.
They also refuse to give me my games, or CASH back so that I can wait in line a Walmart, TRU, Meijer, Best Buy, etc...

Call and vent, or demand your money and games back.
Please post your luck or dissatisfaction here!!

Wow, that really sucks. I'd like to hear from more EB preorderers, to be sure your local EB isn't fucking with you.

Not EB's fault. Microsoft DID cut the shipping numbers on launch day/week from 850,000 to 400,000-450,000. There is an extreme shortage. My Rhino is only getting 5, my Wal-Mart is only getting 20.

Lucky for me, I went down the day after E3 and preordered it, i'm one of the top five.. i'll have a system on the first hour of the first night.. right out of the first box!

That is only as long as they don't decide to just sell to those who have FULL PAID reserves or the first come first serve. Don't forget, you know employee normally get in on it before everyone else at big box stores.

 Boy, you can tell you've never worked at a game store before. Cripes, do you have a personal vendetta against EB or what? Employees get on the list just like everyone else. Want to know why they're in on it first? Because they're smart like I am and don't wait until two months before the system launches to preorder it, they preorder back in May, just like I did. So yes, employees get it first, because they preordered before you. If EB is going in order of reservation time (which mine is), you have no one to blame on launch day when you come up empty handed except yourself.

Thank God I got out of that company. I couldn't take another system launch. PSP was bad enough. I don't need to hear every pissed off parent or gamer blame me for not getting their XBOX 360 on time, even though we pushed them to preorder and trade in their games (including their old XBOX).

Wow that sucks they should give you your money back if you want it. If I want one I'll just camp Wal-Mart.

Finally someone who see's the light! Employee's get no special treatment when it comes to these system launches. The company could care less if you work for them, all they care about is the money.

I recommend showing up at 5PM.. two of my friends that work at one are starting a line at 5 the night before launch.. good luck, I don't think that Wal-Mart stores are getting many in.

I'm not sure why people seem to think that employees get special treatment, especially at launches. Aside from getting paid to talk about games and the employee discount, the only perk to working at a gamestore is first dibs on things that are traded in.

Everyone who says EB is completely innocent in this mess is full of shit. I know it's not their fault they're not getting as many systems as they were originally told, but if you gave them money or trades or whatever, with the promise of getting a system on launch day, they sure as hell should be giving you your money back so you can go and try elsewhere.

Getting a deposit back is no problem if you paid cash...if you traded games on the other hand, that will be a roadblock. Most likely you're only looking at store credit.

Theres realy no exscuse they shouldnt be taking pre orders on games or systems that they dont have accounted for in a contract with microsoft.

If microsoft backs out then gamestop/eb should be able to sue them .

Gamestop/eb bad buisness tactics? big suprise
go stand outfront of there store with a sign and protest if it means that much to you when you explain why your there people will actualy listen to this.

They should be giving refunds at very least.

The way he worded his OP, I think that he traded in games and used that credit towards the 360. He now wants either the games back or the amount of credit in cash. If you paid with cash, you can always cancel your preorder and get your money back, but if you used store credit on it, the only option there would be would be to cancel the preorder and use the credit for something in the store.. unless there was a bonus promotion geared specifically for the 360 (such as 'Trade in X number of games and get an extra $10 bonus in credit).. if that's the case, you're screwed.

Which really sucks if the only reason you traded your stuff in was for the 360. They certainly SHOULD be giving people cash refunds to go buy their systems elsewhere. If they sold you something before they knew "for sure" they were getting them, then they owe you. If it was Microsoft breaking a contract, then EB still owes you and Microsoft owes EB.
Well any bets what will be the average ebay auction closing price for premium Xbox 360s come mid-December?
I smell a CAG Booking Thread in the making! ;)

I think if you were told you were guaranteed a system on launch day, and that's why you traded your games in, then you may have a case for a cash or game (not really practical) refund. But it all depends on the wording of whatever you signed.
Someone should send that to CheapyD!!
What? Send what? No one's doing anything wrong.

//edit: Geez alonzo, sig big enough?

I think the poster meant send that suggestion for a bet to the CheapyD to make a post in the bookie forum. Of course the main problem with that is, how do you easily determine what the average price is?

OP, who told you about this shortage? I work at a store over here in socal, and have not heard of such thing (about the 60% not getting a XBOX360 for launch etc). However I guess if Microsoft did cut the numbers down of units being produced then it is prob true.

I think that the initial small release shipments are their just to create more hype. M$ is going to have enough. I however am not worried about getting one. Cheapy said it perfectly in one of the CAGcasts. Their is nothing coming out on release that makes me go wooooo.

I just have this image in my head of walking past a long line at EB on my way to Wal-Mart where they have a stack of 360s waiting to be sold. I'll probably go to a few places on the 22nd just to see for myself it it's impossible to find around here or not. I live within a mile of 10+ stores that carry games.

Microsoft is doing that on purpose to make everyone get hyped up about the Xbox 360....... too bad for them the PS2 and its enomous library of games is around to stop them.

Also, Dragon Quest VIII is being released the same day so I have plenty to keep be busy

I didn't get a preorder in anywhere. I was trying to use my gamerush credits and missed out. they're not getting their full shipment anyway.
Anyway... now that 360 is short on stock, Sony needs to give a release date for ps3. If I can't get a 360 by Xmas, I could easily hold out till march, maybe even July, for a PS3

Quoted for truth.

Ah yes, but a stack of what kind of Xbox 360s? Wal-mart's clientele is about low price, not necessarily value in multipacks. I imagine they have hedged their bets with the core Xbox 360 system, and then only a few of the premium bundles.

OH bu who, yuo wont get your buggy console the day is coems out... but you did pay for it in advance so you should be compensated with like 20 bucks off

Thanks for the idea

I like how nobody is questioning where he heard this news.

First off, I work at a Gamestop, and we still have NO idea how many systems we are getting. If anyone tells you otherwise, theyre lying.

i'm wondering how much of this is just internet rumor (as scorch isn't the only one saying this) but still, it makes me a bit uneasy. Just means I'll have to line up at 4pm at best buy, like the dork i am, and suffer from frostbyte, hypothermia, starvation, dehydration and possibly a burst bladder.

Meanwhile, over at my local TRU, they have a reservation book filled with 60 no-down-payment reservations on 360s and the clerk is like "yeah, everybody is guaranteed one!" I kinda mumbled "yeah, right" then put myself down as #61, just in case.

I called my GS a couple days ago and they said that everyone that preordered before cutoff was guaranteed their unit(s) on launch day. Don't know if they're just saying that to stop angry calls or what.

I'm glad I preorded at GR as well. At least there I should be guaranteed one. I was number 7 on their list and I believe they will only be receiving 30-40.

Things I've read have said MS is producing a much larger share of the premium bundle for the initial shipment. (80-90% IIRC) But I could definitely see Wal-Mart being a place to go with a larger portion of basic bundles than the typical store. Still if it is sold out everywhere but Wal-Mart w/ a stack of basic bundles, you can get that and spend an extra $100 on the HDD or whatever on a mem card and at least have your system. Much better than getting gouged on eBay if 360s are in fact hard to find.

Since when was a system launch ever so great? N64 had 3 games. PS2 had a fireworks game, some crappy rpg's, SSX and Madden if I'm not mistaken. Gamecube had Luigi's Mansion, I could go on and on.

XB 360 has the best launch in recent memory IMO. Call of Duty 2, Project Gotham 3, Perfect Dark Zero, and enough sports games for everybody.
Found out today, we are only getting 20 for launch and we have 77 pre orders total
You're going to have 57 angry shoppers blaming you directly. God, I hated launch days for anything big name.

I'm not surprized. I don't see the point of pre-ordering any system. Most launches are 1) Overpriced 2) no selection 3) no availability 4) No point to get it first day as I have a stack of games still left to open. The last launch I got wood for was Dreamcast

Just call ebgames store #3278 today. They are getting only getting 10 for launch day, but have almost 50 reserves. They also let slip that some stores have more than 5 times as many reserves as they will get on launch day. That sound worse than I thought. RDVrock also has reported some low shipment numbers!! (20 out of 77)

Pre orders suck! Nothing is guranteed that is why so many company's have to compinsate for putting faith in preorder numbers. I know not everyone can stand in line and wait on launch day for a system that is why preorders are so popular. In my opinion everyone should boycott preorders. Everytime an annoying sales person tries to "sale" a preorder to me I cut them off before they can finish their statement. Granted a preorder gurantees you the game/system, but while you're waiting for yours thousands have already picked up one at another retailer. Along with getting the item later than others once you preorder you're locked in, no refunds as the OP has stated. Just another greedy way retailers f**k you. Good luck to everyone trying to obtain a 360 on launch.

DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS! DOWN WITH PREORDERS!

OMGZ preorder Halo 2 today! dude seriously, this game is going to be impossible to find!! You have zero chance of getting it if you don't preorder RIGHT THIS MILLISECOND! Everywhere will be SOLD OUT!!1

Everyone remember that? ;)
Since when was a system launch ever so great? N64 had 3 games.
You just reminded me of how insanely fun and awesome those 3 games were. Mario 64, Waverace and Pilotwings. I bought the system and those 3 games on release day (without pre-ordering). I seriously played just those 3 games for months. I don't really recall there being many other games worth buying in the year I had the N64.

Here's the deal, a good bit of these people know that they are on second shipment. And, I am not working the release...cuz I am one of the few employees not getting one, so if there is a midnight release...I will be at home playing my XBOX...

OK to clarify...no one actually thought that all 77 people were going to get their 360s on launch, I work at a strip mall store...but i was thinking at least 30 or so. Oh well, they aren't blaming me thats for sure...

Just confirmed that i will have my 360 on launch day..

better bring a gun or get some armed officers of the law to escort me out..
