7900GS $131.99 at BB with RZ coupon

bmsdaddy

CAGiversary!
Didn't see this posted yet, I just got a PNY 7900GS at Best Buy for $131.99 using the 12% off RZ coupon. It is on sale for $149.99 this week and even that is a good price for a 7900GS. Also, it is their Holiday purchase period so I can return it up to Jan 24, 2007 if I wanted to.
Thanks for pointing this deal out. Is it this card listed on their website for $200?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8003732&st=7900+GS&type=product&id=1155072371459

and also what coupon are you talking about and where would I get it?
Yes, that is the card it is on sale for $150. They send out coupons to Reward Zone members all the time for 12% off. The coupons tend to have alot of "strings" attached so they often are not very usefull.

wow this isnt bad at all... assuming its still in stock in store..

may have to go check it out.. i get the coupons in the mail but barely ever use em

wish u could use them online

Jumped on this. After reading a bunch of reviews and comparisons, this card (for the price) looked like a much better deal than the 7600 GT I was planning on picking up on black friday, and now I don't have to worry about showing up early at CC to get in on that deal! :) Can't wait to pop this into the computer I pick up on Black Friday. Thanks to the OP and the poster who posted the copy of the coupon. :)

Well that coupon I link is the official I got in my email from them. So there shouldn't be any reason for them not to accept it as they sent it out. I just got a couple more in my mail. Too many strings on those coupons, I wanted to get a mp3 player but I can't use it on a ipod, so I may just get a a zune.

The 7900GS is an excellent bang for your buck card! I picked up two, SLI pwnz! Total came to ~ $143 ea . after tax using the printed 12% coupon plus two (?) RZ certs headed my way from the purchases.

Its a helluva overclocker too! I have raised mine from 450 MHZ to 500 MHZ on the core. Ran some games for a few hours and had no promblems at all. Haven't raised the memory speed yet at all and I may go for a bit more on the core as well.

My computer (nVIDIA 6100 Integrated, 2GB RAM, AMD Athlon 64 X2) seems to have great difficulty handling videos, whether they're streaming or not, whether they're on my harddrive or not. Very frequently, videos freeze without warning, and it's very annoying. My monitor is 1680 x 1050, but only only DVDs actually fill up the screen, and most DVDs don't. Do you guys think this is a graphics card problem, and if so, would you guys recommend I get this card? I'm not sure at all how this compares to others of similar prices/performances, so help is appreciated.

Okay, thanks. I just wanted to be sure, that's all.

i havent had a chance to pick it up yet but i really want to get this card at this price.. was gonna get a 7600 gt but this is obviously better

If not a spyware/virus problem, then your freezing problem is probably a video card problem. I would reccomend getting this graphics card. I have been an avid computer gamer for a couple years and I can tell you that this card is the best card on the market for price/performance. You're going to have to jump on this deal though, because the coupon provided above (12% off for RZ members) expires tommorow (wednsday.) If you don't have a RZ account yet just sign up at bestbuy.com, it's free. You will get a temporary membership card that you can print out, and they will mail you a real one in a week or so. Be sure to bring the RZ card with you to the store because they need to scan it when they ring up the coupon. I'm getting a computer very similar to yours in a week and I plan on popping it in so tell me how it goes if you end up getting this card. Hope this helps.

that coupon expires tomm? so tomm will be the last day to use it?

gotta get my lazy ass to bb.. the one i normally go to doesnt show up in stock online so have to go to another one

Thanks. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. And my dad actually already has a RewardZone account, so I'll just have him get it.

Do you happen to know if this particular card is loud, though? And do you know if it would require that I get a Power Supply Unit that can handle more electricity?

I don't know if this card is loud, because I haven't used it yet, because I haven't bought my new computer yet. What power supply do you have right now? ( Watt and Manufactuer?)

I'm not sure about my PSU. On the back of the computer case, behind a small plastic window, there's a red tab that says 115, so I guess that's its wattage.

Nah, that's 115 V (115 Volts) If you told me your computer make and model, I could probably help you out... you should make sure your power supply can handle it before purchasing, becuase if it can't your computer won't run.

My computer's a Gateway GT5082 AMD Athlon 64 X2.

Sorry, but you are going to need a better power supply if you want to run this card. Your power supply is 300 W and can handle a maximum output of 15A on +12V. The PNY card requires a minimum power supply of 350 W that is capable of handling 20A (or higher) on +12V.

How much should that cost? And how difficult is it to switch out the power supply?

Alternatively, what do you think of the GeForce 6600OC 512MB card that's also on sale at Best Buy? Would it require I get a bigger power supply? Is it better or worse for the price (which is the same as the 7900GS card)? Do you know if it is loud?

Also, I don't necessarily need one of these graphics cards; I don't really play many games (certainly not graphic-intensive ones at that). I pretty much need a graphics card mostly so that I can utilize the DVI-D port on my monitor, and so that video doesn't pause.

If you can order online, it will cost you about $40-$50 for a good, quality power supply. If you buy at a B&M store, you will be grossly overpriced, so don't even bother. From what I've researched this power supply would give you good bang for the buck and wouldn't be too hard on your wallet.

The 7900 GS performs more than double the 6600 OC... don't bother with it.

Actually, Circuit City seems to have some good cheap PSUs. Do you know if it's hard to replace the PSU?

I've got my SLI OC'd @ 580/1500 right now, time will tell if it's stable but it's working so far! I've noticed one card is older than the other, the older one is longer and the newer one is shorter~ my BB's are sold out now so I can't take the older one back unless I just want the refund :( Hopefully they will get more in stock @ a later date so I can just exchange, so far though the cards are working good though!

Beware Company of Heroes, it's not an SLI friendly game :(

Hey Pokemorhper1 my monitor is the same resolution as yours and the card handles it well. Also, you asked about noise, I don't notice the card at all.

You have the 7900GS card?

Did you have to upgrade your power supply? If so, do you think it's so difficult for an amateur that it would pose a risk to the computer?

Yes I have it, I am the OP for this thread. I did not have to upgrade my power supply, it is a 350W already.

Whoops ;P

Thanks anyway. I might have to get someone to upgrade it for me if changing the power supply unit will pose a risk to my computer.

man ive been so busy havent been able to go bb.... i got coupons again in the mail though and i think it says they start nov 17... maybe i can still get in this weekend

finally got my lazy ass up and got it last night..

not bad at all... replaced my two 6600 gt's with this...

i was having a heat problem with my 6600 gt's that even when not overclocking the cards would heat up like crazy and green artifacts would show up..
