A little troubleshooting help with the Super Scope

So, amid my fleshing out of my SNES collection, one of the pieces I have never owned was the Super Scope. So I picked one up cheap (sold as is), set everything up and I can't get past the calibration screen on the Super Scope 6 game. I'm assuming the scope is working because it's registering the initial Fire press to get to that screen and I can back out of it to the main menu (via the handle button + Fire button). It's just that whenever I aim and press the fire button, there's no confirmation on-screen (as it says there should be), the screen flickers a bit and then keeps flashing the 'Press Fire button' on screen. Also, there's a pic of the Scope in the upper right corner that has a faint light red line flashing to what I'm guessing is the Fire button, it's just so faint and barely noticeable I don't know if that's normal. So any guesses as to what it may be? I've got a couple more SS games en route but for the time being I'm trying to see why I can't get the SS6 working. Thanks...

Hmm.. I just tried to replicate your problem cause I had issues with one game not registering when I had it set on turbo instead of on it wouldn't register, but that didn't change anything. Its really weird that it flashes but doesn't do anything. Does the whole screen flash or just the text? When I do mine only the text flashes, not the whole screen like a zapper would.

Just the text and no matter how many times I press the fire button, it won't get past. I checked the turbo switch already, maybe it's a tad loose...

Nah its typically loose, as long as it switches into 3 positions it should be fine. I dunno how to help, If you want me to try anything just ask.
