I have been listening to many of the debates today like Reid vs Angle and Christine O Donnel Vs Chris Boons and in pretty much every one of these debates the Republicans are morons. I posted recently talking about it being refreshing listening to the John Stuart inteview with house minority whip, the guy came across as intelligent and speaking from his perception of reality and politics....not talking points. Meanwhile in these debates I have yet to see a Republican who seems capable what so ever. They not only try and stick to talking points, but the talking points they stick to are the ignorant mantra of the Tea Party full of insults to Obama and their Democratic opponent. I am not hearing solutions offered, no alternatives to the Democrats, just Roe Vs Wade was horrible, Congress is corrupt and Obama is pushing Unconstitutional ideas down our throats.

I am not saying the Democrats are brilliant and all their solutions are perfect, but to be honest they are without any shred of doubt coming across as much more intelligent then their conservative opponets. These debates are just painful and feel like watching a 5th grader trying to debate against a college professor. It is impossible to not notice that one person has an idea of what they are talking about and the other is just clueless and forced to spout campaign lines as a result.

So, to the conservatives out there....are there any candidates you are aware of that are holding their own? Candidates who can speak without coming across as Joe Six Pack in over his head?

Most people here seem to consider me conservative, so I'll play.

The answer to your question is "Not really, no".

But I'd love it if you could show me a Democratic candidate or two that actually even attempt to defend all or most of their party's actions and legislation of the past two years (and sound competent).

IMO that's what they have to do, because there is no reason to believe that keeping them in office wouldn't be more of the same (which polls show is not what Americans want). But I'm not seeing anyone even trying.

So you have to keep in mind, that much of this election isn't about debates, competency, intelligence or talking points - to a lot of Americans. It's more about voting on whether you liked the performance of the government the last two years or not.

I think your wrong that most of them sound incompetent, however I would say most of them sound like they are trying to back paddle and plead either ignorant of their vote or that in hind sight they now feel their vote on 90% of what they have passed was wrong.

A good example of a Democrat that sounds like neither is Chris Coons. Just how competent he came across as well as his refusal to back peddle made him sound incredibly competent. Another example though he is not in office is Elliot Spitzer who has been doing the annalist scene lately.

That's every election in a nutshell. Nobody likes politicians but we do like change.
