A quick question about selling methods.

CAGiversary!
Hi everyone. I have a question about the protocol of selling things over a forum like this because I have never done it before. I am selling my Xbox with all its stuff for about $170 to someone from Shoryuken.com. http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120340

I have a buyer interested andI have never sold anything over a forum like this and was wondering if anyone had any advice on what exactly I should do to make sure my sale and money goes to him and comes to me safely. I know paypal is a great way to secure transactions because of its security reasons. But to cover all bases I just want to make sure I do everything I should be doing with this transaction. Thanks for your help in advance!

Your best bet is first of all use paypal then immediately dump that shit in your bank account.

Next, package the hell out of it. Make sure nothing will happen in shipment.

For a large package like that, use UPS, and insure it for how much it's worth. Then track it at every step of the way and make sure it's delivered. Hell, require a signature at delivery (Not sure if that's already included with UPS. I think it might be). You should be fine with all of that. I might be leaving some things out, though.

After he pays, be sure to transfer the funds to your bank account. Make sure it has cleared before you ship.

As for shipping, make sure you bubble wrap and throw packing peanuts in since it is a very fragile system. When you send it out, make sure it gets a few "fragile" stamps on it. Also, I would get delivery confirmation as well just so you can prove it was delivered.

Make sure you and the buyer are 100% clear about what is being sold here and try to provide pictures. Be VERY specific about the condition of everything (even the smallest scratch) because if they are not happy and file a dispute it is a real pain to deal with.

Keep communication open with the buyer, make sure to check your emaiL (or however your commuinicate) all the time.
