Advice Please....?

Thinking about building a new PC. All I would need is the following :

CPU (AMD all the way...!)
GPU (PCI-e - must be Dual DVI - preferably SLi or Crossfire capable/upgradeable)
Memory (don't know about this one - at least 1GB prefer 2GB or more )
Motherboard (again don't know)

Any sugestions would be great. I was putting it off because of the lurking Vista OS. I'd reallly like to do a SLi/Crossfire setup but would have to add the 2nd card a little bit later...

1.5GB of DDr333 PC2700 (3x512mb)
Dual 120GB Maxtor HDDs

I don't know really....Cheap as possible without losing too much preformance...

Guessing around $600-800 shipped.....

Your current setup is similar to my old setup, down to the monitors and keyboard/mouse lol.

I upgraded to:

Athlon X2 3800+ $297
MSI K8 Diamond Plus $180
2 Gigs of OCZ $180
7900 GT $300

You could go the Opteron route to save some cash on the cpu, and maybe only get 1 Gig of ram for now?

What kind of preformance are you getting out of that setup...? Also was told that the 7800 series (GTX anyway) had a slight edge over the 7900s...? True..?
