After a new release, when does gs put the used game on shelf?

CAGiversary!
I want to take advantage of the b2g1 used games whenever gamestop does it and was wondering when a new game releases and someone trades it in the next day or the day after, does gamestop put the game up for sale? Or do they have to wait a few days/weeks?

Update: I called 2 different gamestops to confirm this and they both said they have to wait 14 days before they can sell the game. I read this on another forum

Actually it is 14 or more days. This is because Gamestop is considered to be under the pawn shop laws. They must hold anything they get off of sellers for 14 days before selling, as it might be stolen.

What he says is true, at least in FL. =(

It will depend on your local pawn laws. In most areas the game is for sale the minute it gets traded.

Thanks for the answers. I live in FL. I talked to one of the employees a few weeks back and he said something about a few days. Don't really remember what he was saying.

ASAP. Gamestop makes a very small amount on new game sales. But since they buy used games for such a small amount, and sell them for so high, they make a large amount on every used game sale. They wouldn't waste any time in making money.

Yea, I guess as long as the law applies, they sell it as soon as someone has one to sell. I know I was looking for demons souls and saw one the day after release around me.

Some game stores around here will gut copies of new titles and put them out used at a couple bucks above cost if they dont sell all the copies on release day, dont ask my why, seems dumb.

As others have said, ASAP. Sometimes, though, you might have lazy employees who don't bother to put them out right away, so it might be worth it to ask if anyone has traded in a copy of a newer game.
Is buying a new release used from gamestop even worth it? They usually price them like $4-$5 off from the new price.
With EDGE, you can get for ~$50, so if it just came out, it's not too bad getting $10 off a new release. Still not mind blowing for a used game. Of course, the real advantage is when they have a decent coupon or a B2G1.

If it gets traded in and the person gets cash instead of credit, they have to wait like 14 days. I don't think they'll take trade ins the day the game is released but any time after that and the person gets credit, it'll be on the shelf.

I was at gamestop earlier and the employee said it doesn't matter if the person gets credit or cash. They still have to wait the 14 days even if they get credit.

With one of those 20% used coupons from GS (plus EDGE), a new release can be as cheap as ~$39. And if the condition of the game, the case, and the manual is decent, then I would jump on those. Of course, since it's a new release, the condition of the game generally is pretty good.

The only hard part about this is finding a GS that has an used copy of the game.
