Ironically, the event dedicated only a few moments to a title which has the potential to be one of the biggest PS3 exclusives ever, Agent. The game is the mystery title announced in 2007 by Rockstar North, developer of the Grand Theft Auto series. Ben Feder, president of Rockstar parent Take-Two Interactive, believes the game could achieve the same level of success, given its development is being overseen by Rockstar North founders Sam and Dan Houser.

"We think this has the potential to be yet another great Rockstar North franchise title….It's the Houser Brothers and Rockstar North. It's the A team working on an AAA title. I think the subject matter, the characters, the story, the environment, the background--all the elements are there. It's such a rich environment to play in."

Take-Two believes Sony will offer the same kind of support which made Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas--all initially PlayStation 2 exclusives--three of the top 10 selling games of all time. Said Feder, "At this phase in the cycle, when you're trying to launch a new franchise, exclusivity can really help you launch the franchise. It can give you the kind of platform that you need to start exclusive, start in the right kind of way with the right kind of partner. Exclusivity does work."

"I have a lot of confidence in Sony. I have a lot of confidence in their ability to lead the market, as they always have," declared Feder. "Their console is a terrific platform to be developing for, and Agent is a great testament as to our belief in what that platform can do, and what they can do with us as part of a partnership."
It's definitely good to have a PS3...

I wonder if Microsoft will be able to secure this title if they throw enough money at Rockstar...Although, I'm not sure if I know of any PS3 exclusives that go to the 360; but there are plenty of examples going the other way (ex. Bioshock).
WTF is it about?
It's the barely mentioned PS3 exclusive game from Rockstar that got ~1-2 minutes of talk time during all of Sony's 2 hour E3 briefing.

You'd think Sony would talk more about it, given how big a catch this is...
if they have so much confidnce in the ps3 where the fuck is the gta4 dlc already?
Microsoft paid Rockstar $50 million for time exclusives for the first two DLC packages.

I believe that rumors state the PS3 should be getting the first DLC package soon. I don't believe Microsoft will make enough money from sales of GTA4 and the DLC to make up that cost.

You are kidding, right?
the hype machine started early...reminded me of State of Emergency

i hope this one doesn't end the same way
State of Emergency was done by VIS Entertainmnt and Rockstar was the Publisher. Hype wagon or not, has nothing to do with the outcome of Agent.

We talking about Rockstar North. This is a good chance for them to show that they can make another hit franchise and not be known primarily for GTA. I'm just glad to see that they're embarking on a new franchise and that Sony was smart enough to get it exclusive. Why pay for exclusive GTA when you can take a chance on the next big thing. Seeing that the game is being handled by R* North, gives me some confidence that the game will turn out good. I hope they're just focused on pushing the PS3 hardware and not secretly making the 360 version simultaneously.
