If I accept a refund from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, should I go through the A-Z official claims process or just take the refund?

I've had a bad string of luck with Amazon 3rd party sellers lately.  Last night my Black ops II game came in but the disc was unplayable.  There was a bad wavy scratch on the inside ring so that had to be the cause.  Contacted the seller and simply asked to exchange the item for a working disc but they offered me a refund and to keep the game (which is useless since it's defective anyway) but asked me to give them positive feedback.  Sounds like I'm going around the official Amazon protocol.  Is there anything I should be worried about if I do this?

The reason why I ask is I've had to open two A-Z claims in the last 2 weeks already.  One seller sold me the wrong stylus pens and didn't follow up when I contacted him about never receiving the replacement pens (the tracking showed it got lost in the mail).  Accepted the instant AMZ gift card credit.  The second case was when I bought Naruto but got sent CoD: MW2 in the case instead.  Seller ignored my emails.  Had Amazon investigate and credit me my original form of payment just yeseterday.  I'm a little worried opening a third case will flag my account but I've been genuinely screwed out of items I've ordered through 3rd parties.  Would that look unusual to Amazon if I just accept the refund without going through the A-Z claims process?  Thanks in advance.

I would just take his money and leave him feedback as to what happened.  As far as I'm concerned, if I get a full refund then I'm satisfied with the transaction so I would give them 5 stars and in the feedback say there was an issue with the item but the buyer quickly responded and gave you a full refund.  I'm sure that would make other potential buyers more comfortable with the seller knowing they won't try to cheat them.

Get the money before leaving the feedback to make sure you aren't cheated.

The refund should not be considered a bribe. Get your money back and give feedback as you think you should.

The protocol is to contact the seller, then to file the claim two days after your message if the seller does not help you. The A-Z claim is to help against scammers for the most part. I've gotten a lot of refunds over the years, but I've only filed an A-Z claim once against a seller who lied about my return of the items. It was for more than $300 and I did everything right with asking to return and asking for the address and sending it with USPS delivery confirmation. I still had my receipt so I used that and the logged messages to show that the seller was lying to me and I got my money back after a few days.

Too many issues like that Naruto scam can be bad for you, so contact Amazon to let them know of all the open issues you have now after allowing the sellers the two days of response. Be sure to leave negative feedback so that it becomes easier for others who were scammed to get their money returned.

If you can hold the claims for a few days, let them stack and let Amazon know in chat and also ask if this will negatively impact your account status.
