So, this guy buys a copy of Wii-Play off of me, and the description says "Remote NOT included". The price was set at $29.99, which seemed a little high, but I thought I'd try it for a week (it goes for about that much on ebay it seems).

I get this message from amazon customer service:
I apologize for the intrusion but as advertised I purchased
1 of Wii Play with Wii Remote [Nintendo Wii]
The game arrived but not the remote can you explain what is going on?

Thank you
At this point, I'm thinking "sweet, he didn't read the item description at all ". I send him this message:
My copy of Wii Play was advertised explicitly to have no remote. Not to be disrespectful, but please read before you purchase. I don't try to screw anyone with purchases online and fully describe every item that I list.

Regards,
So, I'm thinking that I'm being pretty polite... the guy didn't ask for a refund or anything, just inquired about the purchase. THEN, I get this ridiculous message:
I understand simply you are a crook. I resign from attempting to negotiate with you since you identified yourself as a cheap worthless crook but will ask my credit card company to reverse the charges. And I am filing a formal complaint against yo with Amazon. My special cursing upon your worhtless life... May you always be miserable, may you always want what you can not have, may you be taken advantage of 10x worse than you do to others. May you suffer for cheating your way through life. May you and your kind encounter hostile wrath. May you die young!

Um, wow... seriously, what is wrong with some people? I'm a pretty tactful person in general, but I'm getting ticked at this point. I have a pretty arab name (which of course I excluded from the message above), and "May you and your kind encounter hostile wrath" reeked of racism to me. So, I send this:
Sir,

You did not even try to negotiate with me and did not request a refund. You simply inquired about the purchase.

I may have granted you a refund if you returned the item, but now that you have insulted me and my race ("you and your kind" from your message), I will not. Instead of exploding in an excessive manner, you could have treated me with the respect that normal people give and receive.

I will report all of your racist and hateful email banter to amazon.com

Please learn how to treat people and use the internet.

Best regards,
I think that this was professional and warranted, and I really hope amazon doesn't force me to refund this racist shaq-fu-head. Of course, this guy sent me a few more messages that I did not reply to... threatening to report my "scheming" to my professors at my university (as I have a university signature) and also trying to justify his racist comment as being from cowboy movies (?!? Even then it was racist lol!). Oh, and I forgot to add a few more of the obligatory "You are a loser and I hope you suck at life" notices that I received.

I'm just venting at this point, but I've seen conflict posts like this before, and I'm hoping that I behaved correctly.

If you listed it under the default "Wii Play with Wii Remote" item page and NOT a "Wii Play (Game Only)" page Amazon will side with the buyer. It's in their rules.

I'd report him to Amazon for offensive email, just like you said.

He will then charge back on his credit card and keep your item...meaning you are screwed. There's probably nothing you can do about it.

Good luck....this is why I only buy now and gave up selling years ago.

I don't think 'may you and your kind' was race directed. He's calling you a crook in the whole thing, and that's what I believe it was directed at

"May you and your "crook" kind"

but the email was uncalled for

I am always worried when I sell something like that the buyer will claim it is not as described like what happened to you. I sold a Donkey Konga game only no bongos on Half.com for around $35 and the listing said GAME ONLY NO BONGOS INCLUDED and thankfully the buyer knew it was for the game only.

Those e-mails the buyer wrote were horrible and I hope they don't get their money back on that reason alone.

I'll never understand confrontational people like this... he claims that he makes 30$ an hour, so why is this worth slanderous and violent insulting over?

Eh whatever... I contacted amazon, and they told me exactly what was said above. That is, posting an item for sale under a category different from what the item actually is, is a breach of the community rules. However, they said that they will investigate the buyer's inflammatory behavior separately. The CSR also reccommended that I set up an exchange and refund.

This is what I wrote to him:
Sir,

I am sick of this animosity and am willing to give you a refund.

Please return the item promptly, and I will refund the amount that I received from amazon. Make sure to use trackable shipping methods.

I will credit you the amount of $26.79 for this purchase, as this is what I received after amazon sales comission; I can forward you the email amazon sent to me if you wish to confirm this amount.

This process is protected by amazon through their A to Z guarantee program, and I will gladly forward to you any other information that you require.

Please do not buy from me ever again.

Regards,
Sobhi Youssef

I don't think many people actually read the descriptions. Many a time ive written "FREE UPGRADE TO PRIORITY MAIL SHIPPING. GET IT FAST!" then they pay for expedited shipping... Fine by me in these cases.

i love this buyer, hes like the 40 year old virgin but have a more bitter and sad life. be careful though, once he gets banned from amazon he might go after you again. not saying that he will or hopes that he will, he just seems like the type of person.

Way to keep your cool. I hate buyers that act like this. It's so ridiculous. Common courtesy just isn't common anymore.

Magiic, you sound as if you've had to deal with shitty buyers before

You're right, though. Cursing someone and saying he should die is never alright, and it's even worse that he used such hateful language without even asking him about it.

This is why I've never bothered selling things online.

Amazon buyers can be pretty umm unintelligent to put it nicely.

I would contact his local police and let them read the last email he sent. Sounds pretty messed up and very much like a threat, which is assault. Teach him a lesson. Do it for all of us:)

Hah, amazon finally decided to refund him, but I keep my money too... sweet I guess? They also forced him to remove his neg on my feedback.

Free seems like a reasonable price for that game, at least.
