Dear Amazon.com Customer, As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.

New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com.**
Just use code kjhlkjhliuhkhkhk when checking out. The code is valid through April 9, 2009, so you have plenty of time to use your credit. Purchases from third-party merchants on our site are not eligible.

gkrykewy, according to this thread, at CC you can trade in your HD-DVD player and get a gift card for your purchase price or you can trade it towards a blu ray player. Seems YMMV but one cag got it by having the manager of their store read the memo and honored the trade.

Also got my $50 off future purchase from Amazon today for buying the Xbox 360 add on in February.
Here's some more exclusions:

** Offer cannot be used to pay for special-order titles, e-books or downloadable e-content, wireless service plans, gift certificates, gift-wrap, taxes, or shipping and handling charges. $50.00 promotional credit is per HD DVD player purchased prior to February 23, 2008--up to 10 units for a maximum credit of $500.00.

Amazon fucking rules...too bad I bought my :360: HD DVD Player from Circuit City. I have no plans in trading it in, just want free money like Best Buy and Amazon.

That would be fabulous, but I eBay'ed the player ages ago. No worries - I'm making out okay with my Best Buy replacement unit.

I think this is the first internet-only retailer to do this. I hope others follow suit though because I got mine from Buy.com.

I wish I had loaded up on 10 of these 360 HD-DVD players now. I bought it for $50 on 2/25, still got the coupon, and hoping for the free HD-DVDs from the offer still
Got my e-mail--I bought by 360 add-on back in Nov '06! What a great surprise!
I did too, in August of 2007. I should be getting one too. Nice.

hells yeah. i copped the 360 add on when it $50 and now I get my money back too. plus I sold the thing on ebay for $70..... today is a good day...

SAHWEEEEt!!!!! $50 IS MINE! and what's EVEN MORE IRONIC is the fact that when i bought my Toshiba A30 player from Amazon...they had a price drop shortly after i bought it...and SOMEHOW...they refunded me $100 (it was marked at $220 when i bought it..and i guess went down to $120 on a price mistake o_O). So now thanks to the facebook $10 amazon app (which has now ended) i now have $60 worth of credit at Amazon, $100 worth of credit at BB (and i resold those 2 players i bought there for 150% profit each...and got Heroes Season 1 HD, Matrix Trilogy HD, Hot Fuzz HD, Bourne Supremacy HD, and Serenity HD all for FREE!) Too awesome...

I saw this in my inbox, and was kinda happy, so the first thing I did was try to see if warehousedeals.com counts as amazon themselves, didn't see it as a 3rd party seller seeing as they shipped Prime 2-Day ship for most orders. However in the end didn't work but I have 50 dollars off a PS3 for the next year....here's hoping on a price drop, plus this stacked, or hell maybe a cheaper SKU seeing as how them and microsoft come up with new ones all the time

Those of you that bought the X360 Add-On HD-DVD Player for $50, will probably not be getting the code, because:

Dear Amazon.com Customer, As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com

If you do.....then Rock On!!!

But I doubt you'll get anything.

You Rock, too!

I'm jealous and getting worried that I won't get one. I ordered my Toshiba HD-A3 from Amazon on 12/27/07 for $179 and still NADA in my inbox.

Good. . .that means I can look forward to mine, then. . .still haven't received the email - I'll keep checking.

Edit: Emailed customer service, just got my code. Bought Bully: Scholarship Edition and still have a penny left over!

I wouldn't mind buy.com doing this either since I got one there too. :)
fuck I got mine at gamestop. They suck.
Me too!!, why aren't these douches giving us store credit...

I woke up to this e-mail today, needless to say I'm happy as hell about it. :D I love Amazon, my favorite online retailer. :)

Time to go through my cart & see if there's anything I want now.

I just got off the phone with Amazon... They told me the emails are still being sent out. I was told I should get mine by tomorrow.

Anyone having problems with their code? My friend got one and it comes up invalid. I thought maybe they need a day or so to active...I figured he should try again later and if it doesn't work still call Amazon.

Same boat Brotha! Ordered on 02/27/2008 from Amazon and still got nothing in my e-mail. Oh well.

Did he try to buy something or just put it in as a gift code to add to account balance? I don't think its going to work in the latter case.

Haven't gotten mine yet but I ordered a whole bunch of players as gifts and apparently they will be crediting you $50 PER PLAYER up to $500! How sweet is that...
april 9th, 2009 :)
Yay for reading on my part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I still would have bought GTA 4 SE

I did not get the e-mail, but I called them with my order #, and they gave me a code over the phone. I had purchased the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on when it was selling for $180 with King Kong and 7 free HD-DVDs. Not bad!
