I am looking to send a gift to someone in Seattle from Amazon. I want it to arrive on monday eb. 15th. I have that free 3-month prime trial membership which should give me free 2nd day.

Anyone know how fast things arrive in Seattle though? I am assuming it's pretty fast, even next day. So if I want it to arrive on the 15th, should I order it on friday so that it ships Friday, "transits" saturday, and gets delivered monday?

Well, I ordered something Prime early this week... and with the storms it is delayed indefinitely. While they are based in Seattle I do not know how their warehouse system works. If your item is not warehoused there it might be delayed as well.

I think I got ripped off here because on Thursday I was going to place the order thinking that 2 days would be friday then monday but it said on the website "order within the next X hours to get your order shipped on saturday the 13th" so I thought man better wait until the next day to order so it doesn't arrive too early. So I go to order on friday and bam it says "to get it delivered on monday the 15th select one day shipping". BS! So I had to pay $4 to ship it one-day delivery so that it would arrive on the 15th.

What's up with that, if I order on thursday it gets delivered on saturday but if I order on Friday it gets delivered on tuesday for standard 2-day delivery?

Think it is worth it to call/email Amazon to ask what the deal is, and if I can get that shipping refunded?

Monday is a Federal Holiday, there is no mail, and I don't think Fed Ex or UPS delivers either.

Man you're right. Perhaps that would explain it.

I suppose that's also why the tracking # amazon gave me is to Onstar? Never heard of them. Supposedly it is scheduled to be delivered on the 15th so I guess if it doesn't get delivered by monday I will have cause to complain and get refunded the shipping costs.

I think you mean OnTrac. They do shipping on the West Coast only so the delivery should be pretty reliable.

It's not the holiday that matters (USPS is the only shipping company that takes the holiday anyway, and Amazon doesn't use them much because they have crappy 2-day delivery percentage). Saturday is always a sort of odd half-day; it counts as a day for delivery, but not as a day for shipping stuff out. I think this is because stuff won't necessarily get to a hub that day and only the hubs work on Sunday.
