Animal Crossing: City Folk - Gen. Discussion and info
I thought it says Robo flooring, I'll double check tonight and order you both one if it is. I'll also order 2 robo beds and 2 chairs.
I will also order you a stereo.

Turnips were at 154 last night and are now at 351 this morning. I made a killing, cashing in the remaining 15 sets for something like 500K in bells. Paid off my last mortgage, fountain on the way. I sent 100K to my wife and told her to buy something pretty  She's been eying the princess bed in GracieGrace this week for 80K, and she's only on her 2nd remodel.

I'm curious what the turnips will turn to in 3 minutes when they change for the midday. I have noticed a recent trend in my town of a brief spike on Wednesday afternoons.

I'm converting a lot of my native trees into foreign fruit trees, and I did something a little weird too. I've cut down all of my bare trees that don't produce fruit except for one acre that has 17 of them. Now I am only getting one 100 bell coin per day and no furniture from bare trees. Anyone know the formula used for that?

I have a robo sofa, table, chair, floor and TV in my catalog if anyone is in the market. Let me know.

Oh, and it dropped to 190 bells for turnips now.

This might get a little technical for this forum, but I wanted to share the information.

Based on the calculations from Liquefy which indicate that 0 trees and 27 flowers, 1 tree and 25 flowers, etc. is a perfect acre I believe I have figured out the formula that AC is using.

Essentially the perfect score for an acre is 27 points, and you give 2 points per tree and 1 point per flower to determine the score of your acre. A decent score is 21-25, so-so score is 15-19, bad score is 9-13 and the worst score is 3-7.

Now where it gets complicated is if you figure 1 flower or an even number of flowers. In theory 13 trees and 1 flower would be 27 points, but apparently 1 flower by itself doesn't offer any benefit. If you do 13 trees and 2 flowers that would figure out to be 28 points, which exceeds the threshold for perfect and thus falls into the decent category. What I believe is happening with the flower is that once the tree points exceed 27, then the flowers take on an effect to bring down the score, i.e. 15 trees and 3 flowers is a 27 because 30-3=27. If you had 15 trees with 5 flowers, that would be 30 points for trees and 5 points for flowers thus bringing your score below 27, so the last two flower points are +1 and -1. I.E. 15 trees = 30 points, 5 flowers where 3 reduce to 27 points, +1 makes it 28, -1 makes it 27 again. If you had 15 trees with 6 flowers that would be 30 trees points, -3 points for flowers, +1 to make 28, -1 to make 27, +1 to make 28.

The math people with understand. I've got a chart all figured out for the combo's and what score they earn, so it's kind of cool if you are that anal about stuff like me.

I have a perfect town! I'm so excited! I thinned out the trees and planted flowers every day. I was surprised as heck when I saw the jacob's ladder and realized my town was perfect. I wasn't sure if it would be possible for me to have a perfect town because I mostly have bare ground which is why I planted so many flowers.

Thanks! I think I understand. Thanks to Pelly's lies I need to go around chopping down trees instead of planting more, which would be much easier with a better axe

is anyone going to open their town tonight? I actually have a little time to play so I thought I might go visiting.

Matt, new developments! I saw how you planted palm trees on my beach and I suddenly realized that the beach is the only place that isn't completely engulfed in trees. I don't have any more coconuts so I planted flowers along the beach.
Right after I did that my town rating went from, "not enough trees" to, "too many trees" even though I haven't planted any trees at all today. I narrowed down a specific section of beach that when I pull up two flowers it changes the rating back to "plant more trees". But I don't think that specific acre is the problem since nothing I do to that acre seems to give me a positive message. It's only too many, or not enough.

This is what I'm thinking, please tell me if I'm wrong:
The beach acres don't have enough trees/flowers and that's why I was getting the plant more trees message, even though I have way too many trees in other acres.

Now that the beach has enough flowers and trees to bring their status up to OK, I'm now getting the too many trees message that I should have been getting all along. I now need to get rid of all of the extra trees in all of the other acres until I get rid of the too many trees message.

Do you think that will work? I have six brand new axes on hand, but that might not be enough for my jungle of a town

I'll be online in a half hour or so although I'm hoping to go somewhere else with a good turnip price if, as is I'm expecting, my town again has a lousy price. Are you going to be online Prof? Think of it as a way to get your Robo stuff faster. :)

I think that's right. I had a ton of trees all over the place except 1-3 acres, but eventually I just stopped planting any new trees and just started putting flowers in the acres that had very few trees. I used to get the "too many trees" message, then I'd chop down one at a time and check my status. Once I got the "not enough greenery" message again, that's when I gave up on trees and just focused on flowers.

It's kind of a pain to keep them alive every day, so I always hope there's snow or rain. If there isn't any snow/rain to water my flowers for me, I just go to another town that has the charm that keeps flowers from wilting.

My town has been perfect for six days now. A little more than a week to go and I can get my golden cans!

Janet, I think you are right. Now that spot on the beach is at least decent and it's telling you how some of the other acres need to be mowed down to get to the perfect level.

As a joke I was going to send you a tree in the mail today, but never got around to it. By chance have you seen the recommended answers to Katrina to get the silver or gold axe? I saw them on AnimalXing.com I believe. I can't wait until I get my fountain next week, hopefully I'll get more than 1 axe a week at Nookway to try it out.

FYI, the charm for my town of Phoenix this month is to catch a Sea Butterfly, and it just said you will be given riches.

Ordered the robo beds, chairs, and floorings. I'll send them out as soon as I get them...

and decide which of my parchment trove to use.

I can open my gates at 9:30 after The Office. Let me know, and I'll add you. I think Nook was buying at 127 today.

I added you. Had to quit already though.

Sold some fruit and fossils and ordered 2x robo lamp and robo table and one robo dresser. Turnips are 137 in my town today so shortly will be looking for an open gate or opening mine.

I should be opening my gate in a few minutes if anyone wants to sell at 23X. I will not be around so I just ask that people do not run. Nook will be open till 10:00 central time.

Thanks for your input guys :D So this is funny, I got my axe and chopped down trees in the bottom right corner of town, a couple in the middle of town, and a few around the Town Hall. I though I had a ton more trees to chop down but I decided to check the status real quick... it's in perfect town status!!(after weeks of frustration that was all it needed!) I guess now everything has to remain the same until I get the golden watering can. Fine with me, I'm done messing with trees.

Blue had said something about what you're supposed to say for the axe. I got really close a few times but now I seem to be on her hate list. Where would those recommendations be? I don't see them on the main site.

My town is open but if everyone is heading to Paul's for turnips I'll head there too.

I hope everyone got to sell their turnips. I also noticed that Nook's got cleaned out. I knew I should have bought my flowers earlier.
:dunce:

Sorry I had to take off last night. My daughter has bad acid reflux problems, and last night she was in need of some serious mommy soothing. I had a blast as always though!

Does anyone want the Arwing? I have it in my store today. Just let me know, and I can either open my gates later.

Janet, here are my remaining fossils I need. Thanks!

Fossil Needed List:

Pachy Torso
Parasaur Head
Ankylo Torso/Tail
Ictho Head
Plesio Head
Mammoth Torso
Whatever that fossil is between amber/Peking man

My son totally wants the Arwing. Would be a nice surprise for him to receive it in a letter from me. That may push me over the edge and get me to post my friend code. :)

That might have to wait until I get home from work, though...

I have not played AC in a good month simply because I messed up time traveling and I lost all my bells on turnips that went bad...

I'll never forgive myself.
If eugaet doesn't post a FC, I will be happy to take it. But only if eugaet doesn't go for it.
Alright, found my friend code in my txt msg sent folder...txt'd it to a local friend some time ago. Here goes:

eugaet, may I register you?

No problem. Here is what I did in order to make it fair. I went ahead and purchased the Arwing. With my member discount, the price was 6,840 bells. I'll go ahead and mail it to you once you have added me onto your roster and then you can just mail me 6, 800 bells.

This way the item is now in my catalog and I can order it for anyone who wants, such as Paul. Paul, do you want me to go ahead and order you one?

And a big thanks Janet!!

Kilraven - I've got your robo lamp and robo table. I'll probably mail them to you as I don't think I'll be online tonight. You can send me my chair, floor and bed the same way or you can wait until we meet up. I'm not in a hurry. ProfWho got his stuff last night and I got my stuff from him.

Thanks for letting me sell my turnips at your Nooks, Prof! Congrats to Darkpumpking for catching a coelacanth in my town last night! I still haven't caught one.

I updated the active FC list with eugaet's info. I'll see if I can add you either tonight or tomorrow. I think i've got a few remaining non-hearters who are going to have to get the axe anyway. Please add me. See that list for my info.

Prof Who, I sent off the robo stuff I had a little while ago.

This game hates me. I waited three hours for it to start snowing this morning because it was cloudy and dark. I thought I'd missed it and gave up. My sister logs on 20 minutes later and it immediately starts snowing for her. She's got enough now to pay off her first two mortgages.

This way, I don't have to tell the kids to go away while I visit another town to get it. This way is much more ninja.

I'll start posting what Nook's got for sale in my neck of the woods that the kids don't buy up (seriously, sometimes I come home to a Nookway stocked solid w/ 'sold out' signs), turnip prices, and whatnot.

Well, you can't quite do that. You have to venture out and actually meet someone before you can send them stuff via mail.

EDIT: nevermind - I get what you're saying now!

eugaet, I will add you tonight. I promise that I will not do anything bad in your town. Personally, I have attempted to be PG or PG-13 in all of my AC dealings since I don't know the ages of everyone.

I am glad you managed to makes some $ last night Crunch and thanks again for the stuff.

Also, thanks for the Robo stuff Belle

and finally I would be happy if you could get me that Arwing darkpumpkin. I feel for your daughter. Mine just got colicy around 6:30 to 7:00 every night . I know that was no fun.

RUU_0002.jpg

Thanks Crunch, you should be getting your robo soon I had sent them out. I guess I need to visit Prof's town or have him visit mine before I can send him his stuff.

Reg'd darkpumpkin and ProfWho, will add more later. Let me know if anyone else has already reg'd me.

Turnips are a paltry 50-ish tonight. Trying to dump the 100 I bought for 104 each. First time messing w/ turnips so I didn't want to go all crazy.

Went ahead and opened my gate in case you want to swap some bells for the Arwing tonight, darkpumpkin. If not, we can catch each other some other evening.

If you do jump over, hopefully one of the kids won't be in the room at the time. :)

I keep trying to come visit your town, but I keep getting an error message saying you have disconnected from the Wi-Fi. I'll keep trying for awhile, if not, we will arrange for some other time. :D
Paul,

I bought you an Arwing. Nook should have it delivered by tomorrow, so I will mail it out then.
Thanks a lot. How much do I owe you?

Ooh, is everyone on right now?
I'd really like to get apples from someone. I have every fruit but that one :(

and my towns a little crazy looking right now, my brother decided to plant a fruit forest right next to his house... and it keeps growing hahah.

P.S my gates will be open for awhile.

applecrisp, I have one apple tree. Reg'd you, gate is open. Although I seem to be having wifi issues tonight, I guess.

If you've reg'd me, I can try bringing apples by later if you don't want to close your gate to come here.

So I feel really really bad about ignoring this game for the last month or so... But, two factors have conspired against me. First of all, I gave the kids a PS3 and LittleBigPlanet for Christmas and that is all they have been interested in since then - they have COMPLETELY stopped playing AC themselves. It is really quite remarkable - they went from every day to nothing just like that.

But also, my Wii seems to be having memory corruption issues. We couldn't play World of Goo any more - it kept freezing upon startup. So I thought, OK, I'll delete it and redownload it. Well, the deletion was taking nearly an hour and I finally gave up on it and turned it off. When I turned it back on it was gone and the Wii started up fine. But now whenever I go to the memory utility it freezes there and does not show me any of my channels or game saves. I also could not redownload World of Goo because it tells me I don't have enough room and need to free space (which, as I just said, I can't do as it freezes on that screen).

I can still play games - in fact, I tested Animal Crossing just to be sure. But I think I'll probably have to send the sucker in to Nintendo. Given that there's a better than even chance I'll end up losing all my save data, I thought I might ask if anyone here will hold some items, and more importantly, bells, for me if and when I do so. Then, if it does get wiped and I have to make a new town at least some of that hard work will remain in the form of cash I can use to get everyone's houses upgraded again (assuming my kids want to play once more).

Anyway, no need to work it out now - I still have to call Nintendo about it.

Someone on the Nintendo forums had the same problem and they got a wiped machine back, so I'm not hopeful. In fact, they better not fucking charge me for the repair if all they do is reformat the memory - after all I can do that myself! However, his problem was a little different in that he continued to use it for a while after the problem occured and it eventually told him the memory was corrupt upon startup. Mine isn't like that yet and I haven't wanted to push it thus another reason I haven't been playing recently.

Anyway, yet another WIN for Nintendo's half-assed storage solution . I have some of my game saves backed up to SD card (though not recently and I never tried the AC game save) but of course Nintendo in their infinite wisdom does not allow many of them to be copied. Bastards...

thanks to paul and romeo, was fun tonight haha.
hopefully my town wasn't tooooo borin for ya :p
and thanks for the apples paul :)
now hopefully those trees will grow and i will have them all, wooh.

I was giving out false info the other night to some folks in my town. My youngest didn't make the Mario design. He made a Luigi design. I don't think it was in display. It's probably not as impressive, but he's only 6. :)

Does anyone still need to sell turnips? They are 180 in our town. Now, I don't have control of the Wii at the moment and it's already 11:10 AM here, but if anyone posts that they want to sell here I'll take over in a bit and open the gate.

Yes! If you have a chance to open your gates, I'd love to stop by and sell my turnips. I've had cruddy prices all week.

Gate is open. I won't be in attendance. Please walk and don't buy the eye patch nor trash can - my youngest wants to buy those later today. Turnips are 180 for 20 more minutes, then what price?
