I've been reading up on Animal Crossing and am thinking baout buying it, but I still have a few questions that i can't seem to find anywhere, like:

Is the memory card that it comes with that important? I found i can get it for $18 used at gamestop without the card, and I already have a 251 that's only half-full, so would I be missing out on anything if I didn't get the card?

and also, I heard that AC has NES games included, but I'm not sure how they're unlockable. What extra equipment, if any do you need for those (as I don't have a GBA or code generator [whatever the hell those are]).

I'm also not sure what e-readers are, so if anyone could explain that it would be helpful.

And of course, I'm all ears for any good deals. Thank you:)

Dude, I may come off like an asshole here but you say you've been reading up on Animal Crossing. Are you sure, because 99 % of the shit you ask is in the first paragraph of just about any review.

bascally the game takes up 59 blocks so getting a copy with the card is worth it. Also the card gives you two NES games right off the bat(two of the 8 non rare ones)

The e-reader allows cards to be read and things to be imported to the game(anyone with NP knows this because a while ago they gave away a Zelda outfit card). Also I would try to talk to people who have NP as they give away free codes for free stuff in the mag.

to get all the NES games you need an Action replay as some are still unlockable in normal ways

I bought my copy of AC used and without the memory card. From what I've heard whoever uses the memory card first will get two nes games in their AC mailbox and thats about the extent of it. There should be no other noticeable differences. There are nes games and you could win them in the monthly raffles. Also in order to use the e-reader you would have to have a GBA.
can you trade NES game codes around, so you can play NES games that others have unlocked?
check planetgamecube.com as they have a whole section dedicated to AC trading(though the mods are really big assholes)

if they are common. Ones like Zelda can not be traded(have to be unlocked through the AR device)

As stated before, the only thing a new memory card offers is two NES games, and a cool sticker on the card itself.

There are a handful of games available through different methods. Without cheating, don't expect to get them all very quickly. A couple of games are not available without an action replay. I know it sucks.

The e-reader allows to you scan cards (sold seprately) and get items (shirts, songs...etc...) in your game.

Best Buy new for $25. You're welcome.

I don't understand the AR thing. Why would Nintendo put something in the game that can ONLY be unlocked by that ONE device? And a device that THIRD PARTY?!

I THINK the reason is that Nintendo is supposed to eventually release all the real codes for these games but until that day you will need the AR.

Hmmm....I guess that would make sense. But the question is why have they waited so long?

actually the game is really good. you wont regret of buying it. Have the faith and buy it, and you will get all the reward! trust us on this one!
good game

just get it. I bought mine used off ebay so i let's say, ahem, *obtained* some of the rare items by transporting his items to my particular house, including all of the NES games. But you can win NES games in raffles, or get action replay and enter codes for the NES games to appear, and anything else you might want if they're that important. Since you have a 251 memory card, buying the used one seems more sensible since it will save you the cheapest amount of money. But this game is worth it, so trust me, just get it. I love it.

I'd like to present an opposing view. I didn't like it. Because there is no "mission" in the game, I felt like there was no point to it and I was wasting my time playing it.

I bought the game new, when it was full price, because I want to support unique software and encourage developers to take a chance. But it was not my cup of tea.

One question: Does anyone know the purpose of writing letters? If some character wants something from you and you send it to them in the mail, are you supposed to say something as well? Can the game comprehend anything you write?

Yeah, the game has very strict rules for letter writing.

Check out gamefaqs.com for a letter writing faq.
