Annoying hard drive misreadings

I'm somewhat knowleadgeable about PC's. I keep my PC in good shape both in OS and hardware.

However this has me confused.

I was recently looking at my hard drives when I noticed my 80 GB C drive had only... 9 GB left?! That couldn't be correct!

I followed things around. My Documents had an astonishing 50+ GB on it!



I don't download porn so don't think for a second that's what it is. I don't even download music so what cuold be taking so much space?

I kept looking. I went to... Application Data? That was supposedly taking a huge chunk.

Suddenly, and equally strange, I came across these.

How strange! I went inside those folders and found nothing but a couple KB .dat or whatever files. I have hidden folders visible and it was practically empty. Even the Folder Properties said like 1 file but it took up such and such GB.

What the hell is wrong here?
 
Uninstall the messengers you have then manually erase the files if they are still there in safemode. Then reinstall, that should do the trick.

This has worked for me in the past. I've had that exact same problem (although I never tried to find what was taking up so much space). I just run disk check or whatever it is and then it fixes itself. :)
