Won a $15 auction for a 360 game. Guy says he mailed it.

The problem is that it hasn't shown up, nor has it updated on usps.com. The seller has already left positive feedback. I paid with a CC via PP.

What do I do? The guy seems genuinely concerned, so I assume he mailed it with good intentions. I just want to get my money back at this point.

1. ask him to refund
2. start the PP dispute
3. proceed directly to CC chargeback
4. combination of any of the above

I figure my feedback will depend on his reaction to my refund request.

How long has it been since he said he sent it out? Usually the usps.com is really slow at updating. Sometimes to the point that its days after it arrives. Dont worry though. Since you used paypal you can always start a dispute and get your money back within 45 days last time I checked. Paypal 99.99$ of the time sides with the customer.

If I am not mistaken, the seller can't leave negative feedback if you pay.

As for your problem, when did the auction end and when did the seller claim to ship it? He might have shipped it with media mail which can take an eternity. I would wait a few days.

Or you could ask him for a refund politely in a email or start a paypal dispute within the time frame they give you. You can raise your dispute to a claim and paypal should side with you if the shipping info is not updated and there is no proof of delivery.

I had a similar problem a few days back.

I doubt it's the sellers fault so it wouldn't be fair at all for you to file a dispute against him - yet. Wait a few more days (a week at least from the date he claims he sent it) and if there's nothing, file the dispute. I really wouldn't recommend it though. USPS is extremely slow at updating and sometimes stuff gets stuck at the post office for days before it even gets sent out. Does this person have previous positive feedback?

Your item was processed and left our SPRINGFIELD, MA 01152 facility on August 6, 2008. No further information is available for this item.

it's been a while already. he said he called today and they simply stated it hadn't made it yet. it's almost a month. Springfield, MA is its second update in their system.

It's either lost or he might've shipped using media mail. Media mail is notoriously slow sometimes.

I don't know about you guys, but in my area they cut USPS route workforce by a boat load. I use to get my mail at 4pm and now It's after 6pm (not joking here) and It seems priority which use to be two days tops for me, is now 2-4 days. I had a guy ship out a 360 which was supposed to be here Tuesday and I didn't get it till Thursday, and he mailed it out Priority on a Saturday.

So I would say wait as long as you can before filing a report. USPS is now slow as hell and It's probably not the guys fault unless he did media mail.

something else i noticed was that his auction said he would ship UPS ground. i guess he decided to use USPS for some reason.

Well it's been over 3 weeks so yeah that is a while.

I'd do all of your steps from your OP in order. You could contact him about a refund and see how long he thinks you should wait for it to show up before he'd consider it lost.

Cheapest, certainly. Best is debatable. I haven't had any major problems with USPS but UPS has much better tracking.
