Any PSP handheld &/or game deals going on? (US & JP)

Hey CAGs; I've been wanting a PSP for a long, long time now, & with the recent drop in price for the handheld & UMDs, along with black friday/cyber monday, it seems like a good time to get one...but I don't know where to look. I'm unsure whether I want a 2000 or a 3000, but I know I don't want a 1000. I've heard that the 3000 makes some games look weird & craps 'em up due to some weird screen, but I'm not sure what the major difference between the 2k & 3k versions are besides that.

I will be getting this for both US & JP-region games. JP text is not a problem; I've been learning Japanese, & imports should be a good motivator for me to learn more. I just don't know where to find the handheld in a good condition, cheap, & where to find good UMD games (though I may be able to get some import games at a store I frequent). What would you CAGs suggest; as to find my PSP & games, that is. Are there any good black friday PSP deals? (I saw the Fate/Night & Hakuoki LE thread...missed it before F/N changed it's price back to $34/$35, sadly...)? Again, import games & etc. are encouraged!

On another note, I'm not too well-versed with trading on CAG, but if anyone has a PSP &/or games I might be interested in, please feel free to mention/offer up something about it/them here. Thanks!

EDIT: As my title states, I love LE stuff, so LE versions of games are also encouraged.

Amazon has a bunch of Square Enix PSP games on sale right now for $10 each, but most of them (other then 3rd Birthday and Kingdom Hearts BBS) are OOS atm. You can still order them for that price they just wont ship until they get more copies in stock. Newegg has some too.

For Fate/Extra LE you could buy it from the Aksys store as they still have it on sale through Cyber Monday.

I'm not sure about sales on import PSP games (maybe try play-asia ?), but there are quite a few good import-only games on the system. Check out this thread over at the XSeed forums for a bunch of them:

And if you're in the market for extremely cheap psp games I made this thread a while ago:

That sounds cool, though I'm only worried about the disclaimer that was shown on this page: http://www.cowboom.com/product/640787 :

- Fully functional
- May show limited signs of use
- May be missing parts or accessories
- May have dents or scratches

Do you (or anyone else reading this) know the type of condition it will be in/what will actually come with it? Have you (the reader) ever ordered something from them?

On another note, it didn't mention if it had anything to go with it. This is it's description:

4.3-inch Widescreen (16:9) TFT LCD
Stereo Speakers
Read-only UMD drive (Anything to be alarmed about?)
Wireless connectivity (802.11b)
Plays MP3s, WAVs, WMAs, ATRAC3+ and MP4s
Communicate with other PSP systems, play games online, browse the Web and more

MFG: Sony
MFG Part: PSP-3001

That sounds all just about right; but it doesn't mention anything about the memory card. I wouldn't want some shitty sports game anyway, but will it have a charger? Again, what about a memory card/stick?

Awesome links, fellas; I appreciate your help.

I haven't ordered from Cowboom before, but from what I hear the "product grade" is what you want to keep an eye on. A rating 5 is really good, and 6 or more is basically brand new.

The PSP uses any generic ProDuo memory card. If you want a ton of space for cheap get a proDuo adapter with two 16gb microsd cards:

http://www.amazon.com/PhotoFast-Mic...qid=1353925128&sr=8-1&keywords=produo+adapter

That should give you 32gb for about $25. You can get cheaper cards with the same capacity, but those ones are the fastest so load time and transfer times will be great.

I don't see anywhere on the site/listing that mentions "product grade"...where exactly is this rating-thing located?

As for the memory card thing; is that reliable? I haven't heard of something like that for the PSP...regardless of it being a third-party sort of thing. I'd imagine this would cause for a slow-down in some cases too; the memory card being split in half, that is.

On another unrelated note, would I be able to get the 64 gig ones & stick them in there? (Making a 124-gig memory card duo). Theoretically, really; I would never, ever need that much space.

Wouldn't it just be a better move to just get an actual memory card duo instead of an adapter?...

EDIT: I found the rating scale chart, but I can't find the actual ratings. Argh.
EDIT 2: I still don't know if it has a charging cable...does it?

Click on the button that says "Choose Best Available". A window should pop up with all available PSP models with the Product Grade listed below them.

Nope, it's completely safe. I used a sandisk ProDuo for years and then upgrade to one of these earlier this year and have had no problems at all. If you do a google search there are a lot of people that do this actually because the higher capacity standard ProDuo cards are really overpriced by comparison. Think of it like this: An SSD drive these days typically uses MLC (basically multiple memory chips linked together instead of one large chip), this is just doing the same thing but on a smaller scale.

I've heard conflicting stories on this one. Some people say the PSP maxes out at 48gb, others say they can throw basically any size at it and it'll work fine. 32gb is a safe bet, but past that I think your taking a risk and going in to more or less uncharted territory.

Mmm; thank you for helping me out with this...though the only two PSPs left are 4's, & don't look like they'll hold themselves all too strong. What do you think of that?

Sorry to have taken your time; I do appreciate your help, though.

Cowboom tends to exaggerate when it comes to damage (their way of playing it safe so no one ends up disappointed), but if you're concerned they update their inventory regularly and prices fluctuate a ton. They get more PSPs in stock all the time, so if you want to wait till a 5 shows up it probably wont be long, just make sure to check the site a lot so you don't miss any deals.

Mmm. It has a 15-day guarantee anyway, doesn't it? Still, won't the price go up if I just wait? I mean, it's at this price because of the Cyber Monday sale, isn't it?

No I don't think so, Cowboom is just REALLY good on prices for used consoles. Probably the best reputable one out their with such prices in fact.

Ah. Maybe I'll see if they have some other stuff sometime. They don't seem bad, just...weird. Different.

Yea they're an odd one. I think there's some trick to getting even better prices too, and I could be wrong on this but I think I've heard if you put an item in to your cart and it sells out before you buy it they will give a you a hidden list of even cheaper versions of that item, or a coupon or something.

I actually thought they wee a scam the first time I saw them, but a lot of CAGs swear by them so that's good enough for me.

Mmm. Guess I'd say the same. They seem like they're pretty cool. I found a 50% 0ff coupon online somewhere too...maybe it will stack with the Cyber Monday promo.
