A couple days ago, I get a call from someone working for 'Lala Worldwide'. She said she got my resume from a career fair that I went to last year. Interesting, I think to myself.

She says they're looking for 'entrenpreneurial minded people' to work for an expanding e-commerce business. Yet she never mentions what they do exactly. She does tell me to come for an interview on Thursday.

Where is this interview going to be held? In a restaurant of a Sheraton Hotel.

A quick Google search turns up nothing, not even their website:

http://www.lalaworldwide.com

Curiouser and curiouser.

I haven't even graduated college yet (won't for another year), so I'm not too accustomed to interviewing practices. I've had job interviews, but never in any place besides an office. I just have a feeling this might be some sort of scam.

Anybody else get called by these people, or have any thoughts on the situation?!

Thanks in advance.

Actually I've never heard of them but I've heard of something similar. If you look at their website, its hosted on www.bww.com , this company is basically a scam. What you do is pay a certain amount(usually around $100) and you become an IBO(independent business owner). You then get a website and a bunch of tools. You can sell any items you want on your website and they have a ton of items to choose from. Every time someone buys something you get like 5% of the sale. They do all the shipping and packing, you just sell it on your site. Also, if you get people to sign up under you then you get a percentage of their sales once they become an IBO. Its like a huge pyramid scheme. They make you go to meetings every week(which they make you pay to attend) and it ends up being a lot of work with little reward. They claim in their brochures you could make over $400,000 a year yet the average salary is like $200 for most people.

Anyway, if you want you can find many sites talking about bww. Their items are supplied by Quixstar or something similar and theres lots of websites out there talking about it as a scam, but there are also some people saying they do make a good amount of money from it. I wouldn't recommend it, but you never know.

Stop the invasion![/quote]

I've got the dancing part down, and shooting aliens I've learned from video games, but I don't know if I can do them both at the same time.

I was wondering what that BWW was. They haven't asked me for any personal information, besides just my major and when I'm going to graduate.

If its a pyramid type thing then definitely I don't want to get involved. Damn now I see how its going down now... they'll probably have a whole bunch of people there to pressure me into paying up.

What ever happened to the good old days before the Internet was widespread when the scammers made you sell perfume in parking lots?

Nothing! Some girl tried to get me to buy perfume from her in a parking lot just a couple of months ago.

My favorite is still the "Can I have money" routine where they give this woman a laminated card with some sob story on it and you're supposed to read it and give her money. They can't even ask for money anymore. Then you see some Escalade come and pick up the "poor" woman.

Quixstar! That's the new amway web company. Yes that is a scam. You end up selling amway crap. The average salary is like $800 based on my research from websites. Pay lots of money work your ass of and make next to nothing.

Input any name and e-mail and you can check it out!

Haha nice. Just caught the Space Channel reference. :)

Can't believe I was about to get caught up in this. That shaq-fuin girl who called me is the owner of the site.

Thanks again everybody for saving my money which will be eventually wasted on video games. CAG is the greatest. *wipes single tear*

good job everyone, glad that they helped you magilacudy. i didn't see this thread earlier, but once i started reading the thread,i thought it was a scam also.

The fact that they wont tell you what they do is suspicious enough.

If you do talk to them and they want you to pay for something or invest any sort of money, then you know its a scam. I say you should walk away.

I was just thinking of that actually. I wish I could get that free meal now, my stomach's growling.

I wonder how they got my info anyway. That's supposed to be only sent out to legit businesses and such.
