Blah! I'm just bitter since the impact of Hal Jordan's sacrifice in 'Final Night' wasn't permanent. This is one of the few things that really pisses me off about comics is that no one truly remains dead except Gwen Stacy, Ben Parker, Jason Todd, and Bruce Wayne's parents. On one hand, I'm glad that he's back but on the other, it's startin' to feel the same way when superman came back. It's a non-ending. No permanence. So any of those claims by authors about how so and so's death will have a 'lasting influence' or 'profound impact' is basically negated. His death had no meaning. Same way w/ superman. What's the point of killing a character if they're just gonna come back? The finality of death is what makes a character's death all the more compelling. Same thing w/ the currently popular Identity Crisis. If any of the characters came back, Identity Crisis loses its shock factor. You begin to treat such things like a "Meh, whatever. So Ralph Dibny's wife died; big deal. They'll just bring her back in the next arc."
