Anyone reading the new Green Lantern: Rebirth comic?

buddy the puppy

CAGiversary!
Man...just when you think you're done with comics...THEY PULL YOU BACK IN!!!!!!!!

Arrghhhhh!!! So far book one and two are INCREDIBLE! Man it's addictive!

Green Lantern is my favorite super hero but I haven't read one in a while. Loved Zero Hour and the rest but I can't really get into Kyle Rayner.

Kyle Rayner was alright BUT the awesome thing about Green Lantern:Rebirth is that Kyle is out and Hal Jordan is back in!!!!!

The first issue starts with Kyle Rayner (who was thought to be dead up till this month) crash landing to earth, half dead, warning the Justice League that Parallax is coming back!!

For those of you who don't know Parallax is the villain Hal Jordan became when he went crazy and destroyed coast city, killing like 7 million people and also killed the Green Lantern corps!

Well long story short, Hal Jordan was sentenced to be the living ghost "The Spectre" to pay for his crimes against humanity but this mini-series is going to see him seperate from Spectre and find redemption once again becoming earths main Green Lantern. Once this mini-series is over the Green Lantern comic will relaunch at #1 with Hal Jordan back in place.

It may seem like alot to take in but give it a chance, reading this book is like watching a friggin movie or something!

I've been trying to ge back into comics for a while , and I think now is probably a good time. There are new runs of Avengers, Captain America, and now Green Lantern that I want to read, but I've been searching all over the internet, and I can't find an easy way to subscribe to a comic. Any suggestions?

I know what you mean, I am a comic collector from the 80's and it took the Jim Lee Batman run called "Hush" to totally draw me back in. Right now The Flash, Superman/Batman, Green Lantern:Rebirth and Conan from dark horse comics are what I'm reading. These books are hot!!!!
I used to be a BIG Marvel fan but every 2 months they are ending their series and starting over. Thor, Captain America and some other one just ended this month! And Iron Man just started over with issue #1!! Whats up with that???

I have included a link to Midtown Comics Website, they are a huge store here in NYC but they also have a automatic home delivery subscription service. Hope this helps!

This has been quite interesting, but my brain is on hold until Identity Crisis 7 comes out... I cant wait for the IC trade so i can shove that series at anyone who walks in the door (were out of 2-4 at the moment)

Blah! I'm just bitter since the impact of Hal Jordan's sacrifice in 'Final Night' wasn't permanent. This is one of the few things that really pisses me off about comics is that no one truly remains dead except Gwen Stacy, Ben Parker, Jason Todd, and Bruce Wayne's parents. On one hand, I'm glad that he's back but on the other, it's startin' to feel the same way when superman came back. It's a non-ending. No permanence. So any of those claims by authors about how so and so's death will have a 'lasting influence' or 'profound impact' is basically negated. His death had no meaning. Same way w/ superman. What's the point of killing a character if they're just gonna come back? The finality of death is what makes a character's death all the more compelling. Same thing w/ the currently popular Identity Crisis. If any of the characters came back, Identity Crisis loses its shock factor. You begin to treat such things like a "Meh, whatever. So Ralph Dibny's wife died; big deal. They'll just bring her back in the next arc."

That's cool site, and all, but I have to subscribe to 15 comics?? I was only looking to get 2, or 3, not 15...

edit:
Select 'Click to select publisher', choose at least 15 monthly titles and click 'add to my subscription'.

edit 2:
Is there a minimum number of titles required?

Yes! There is a minimum of 15 monthly titles. If you choose less than 15, you will see an error message directing you to add more titles.

WOW 15!!! That sucks!!

I agree about Sue Dibny, I mean a whole goddamn story arc around her murder?? Big whoop! I give DC credit because when it comes to their people dying they have a better resurrection rate than Marvel.

Whoever thought Superman was actually gonna "stay" dead was smoking crack to begin with.
I didn't even take that storyline series, I just read it to see who killed him and how he died.

Wow this really perked my attention. I hope I'll get this and Identity Crisis soon. I still can't believe that hal Jordan comes back and will be the main GL. Oh I so want this comic book now. he is and will always be the best GL ever. I haven't been keeping up with GL for a while. I've read a few here and there like how Rayner when he was Ion found that Oa and the planet's inhabitants that ran the GL Corps were still alive and he brought them back in baby form and the last inhabitant (can you tell I don't remember what there names are) had to take care of them. Ir emeber at the end of that run, he had to give up all the power that was given to him to become Ion and give back most of th epower so they could come back. I remember he also did some weird stuff to his ring so that he would have a back up power in case he ran out again. ANd then at the end of the issue Jade gets sick. I really want to get this comic now.

Yep I remember when Kyle did that. I mean this new miniseries is really good. The first issue sold out so quick it's already been released as a SECOND printing!!! Can you believe that! When's the last time they had to do another printing of a Green Lantern comic??! :p

I read the first. IT was okay, but not compelling enough to overwhelm the 'Dammit, they brought another one back' revulsion of Hal's ressurection.

Identity Crisis is great. Only thing that sucks is now I want to pick up JLA. Between getting most Marvel books and now Superman, Batman and JLA I can't keep up anymore.

Well it doesn't bother me at all because TECHNICALLY they have never gotten rid of Hal Jordan, he didn't really die...he was sentenced to be The Spectre who is a living ghost AND has his own series.

yaeh, but they shouldn't have turned Hal Jordan into the The Spectre in the FIRST PLACE! I'm sad to say this but they should have killed him off and given him a hero's death, as in he turned into Parallax but then saw the his wrong ways and comes back later to save the new GL (Kyle Rayner) or other super heroes and finally dies and is commended in the end for his heroism even though he made Coast City go toast.

I've never been a big fan of DC but the War Games storyline and the superman/batman title have both changed my mind.

I also don't like Dc that much except Impulse aka Kid flash, but I like Superman/Batman and the Batman "hush". But so can't get into GL. Did anyone get New Avengers and Ultimates 2 today?
