"APC currently is running one of their 22% off coupons. The code (h264w) is included in the link. The deals on the products APC is more known for are not that great this time around, but this time they have high end rack mountable AV power conditioners on clearance, and the coupon is good on them as well. The prices before tax and shipping ends up being $140 for H15 - 1.5kVA and $105 for H10 - 1kVA. Add an item to your cart to see the adjusted sale price."

Wow, I didn't know APC occasionally runs deals.

I've been meaning to buy a few of these. What's holding it up is I need to looking into how many watts I need to buy. I know how many watts effects how long the UPS battery will last in the event of a power outage. But, do you also need to line up the power requirements of your computer with your UPS? E.g., have a ridiculously big gaming video card, you need more watts in your UPS? And, not just for longer battery backup on the UPS, but there are other issues? Like does how many watts your UPS effect the "quality" of the power supplied to your PC even while the power in your house is on?

id check audioholics. they have a review on the H15 and i believe it lists what equipment is running and the draw, it was a lot lower than id have expected.

i know theres a tripplite UPS at costco for $99 thats has positive feedback. the APC gear seems to be a better value at those discounts, but YMMV.

I was looking at the Tripplite mentioned above at Costco. I'd like to be able to protect my home theater stuff, not sure if this stuff would work, though. I currently have a Monster Surge Protector that was probably worth about ~$90. I really should get something to protect the investment I've made in all this stuff.

BTW it's recommended to not plug the 360 into one of these things right? I thought I remembered people saying this or reading such in the manual.

i cant imagine why you wouldnt want to plug a 360 into one.
if theres a reason id like to know.
the price through APC is still cheaper.
on a side note, im still trying to decide if i really need one of these.
I have an ok surge protector. im considering the H10.
actually, it's not. The link I posted was for the H15, not the H10 and there's no shipping/tax when I ordered from audioholics so even with the APC discount from their site, it comes up as $10 more in the end compared with audioholics

I may end up sounding dumb because I feel like it's something I read somewhere, but I thought it was something about a surge protector limiting the power that the 360 would be getting as opposed to being plugged directly into a wall outlet. I think this may have been mentioned around the time of the RROD craze, so it might have been blamed on surge protectors and again I could be wrong. This is why my 360 is plugged directly into the wall. Well, that and because my Monster Power block is full with my A/V stuff.

there's this b.s. from Microsoft that tried to place blame on the frequent hardware breakdowns in the 360s from people plugging them into surge protectors. that's where that came from
