Appliances (Fridge, Washer/Dryer): Where to buy? How to shop?

Kyz

CAGiversary!
We're moving soon and will be tasked for the first time in life with shopping for a new refrigerator, washer and dryer. I have no idea where to even start with major appliances, so any advice anyone has is greatly appreciated. Stores? Deals? Brands? Do's? Don'ts? Thanks GREATLY in advance!

From personal experience I would keep an eye out for floor models. The price can come down a lot because the appliance has a scratch or ding on the side of it. Often those sides would be put up against the wall where they won't be seen anyways.

EDIT: This is from appliance stores only not big box stores.

Personally I like Best Buy for this stuff. Mainly for me I liked how I was able to get multi-year 0% financing along with the rewards points...Also if you can wait a couple weeks sometimes they have great sales. I have whirlpool (washer and dryer) and they work well..

ooh any helpful info people give would be greatly appreciated. Wife and I are moving in a few months to N.C & need washer & dryer

My personal experience is to search for small scratch and dent appliance stores. Most of the stuff they have is still under warranty but received a scratch or two in shipping and is most often greatly discounted.

Most of my appliances came from Sears. My Fridge was from one of the Sears Outlet stores, and was about half the price because of some scratches that aren't even that noticable.

I've been able to catch free delivery deals (last one was mailing in the receipt to get money back).

Sears will try to sell you an extended service plan, which I did take for my fridge and washer. If anything goes wrong I can call them up and they'll come out to take a look. It might not be necessary but I like the piece of mind knowing that I have that.

Thanks for the info. It looks like Best Buy is currently having a Sunday/Monday sale on Appliances and they're throwing in free delivery, which sounds good. Problem is that we don't close on this house and move into another one until next month. Oh well - maybe a July 4th sale will come around like the Father's Day sale.
