I was digging in my basement last night and found a gift card for 50 bucks from gamecrazy (hollywood video) went online and it even seems the online part is gone...

is there ANY stand alone hollywood videos left

sucks im out 50 bucks

Well, you're not out $50 because you didn't even know you had it. If anything, this is a lesson to not keep gift cards hidden in the basement.

Best longshot you have is touching bases with a former Hollywood like Family Video and hoping they'll honor it. But yeah that card is about as worthless as you'll get.

i dont think family video has anything to do with Hollywood video

too bad they wouldnt cause we got 2 local family video stores

yea im not really out nothing (cause i did major flips for 200x what i paid for games mostly) just saying .. o well... at least i got something to remember the good old days of hollywood video LOL

i did find some old Ps2 rpg games that i probally could pop up over on ebay and make some nice money... the games were in the same bag as the gift card

I wouldn't say its completely worthless. Let's see, you've got yourself a bookmark, a scraper, an artifact of an extinct store. I mean the possibilities are endless really, turn that frown upside down!

lmao way to help him turn lemons into lemonade.

What I don't understand is how does blockbuster, hollywood, movie gallery go under, yet family video continues to thrive, and they're even building store?

Family Video carries porn. The rest didn't.

Movie Gallery did, at least at some stores.

Seriously, though. When was the last time you paid for porn?

But yeah, I would say that you are dead in the water. I was lucky enough to cash out my trade in credit during the clean out at my local GameCrazy.

family video does not here and they are looking at adding more stores but they want to BUY instead of rent and many locations do not fill their needs...

now there is a Delmar store here taht someone told me that the PORN rentals make up 70% of their income... that is the only reason they are still around

Family Video apperently has little or no debt.

The problem with a lot of companies is that they owe large amounts of debt due to borrowing money for quick expansion and even small but permanent decreases in sales can drive them to bankruptcy.
