I had a very good conversation with some of my buddies last night.

One very interesting point that was made is wether or not our soildiers are fighting right now or just "standing around waiting to get blown up".

The more i thought about it the more it made sense.
It's been a LONG TIME since i've heard of a gun fight breaking out between troops & the "enemy". The only thing i hear about are "out of nowhere" terrorist attacks similar to what happened in London.

To me it just seems like our troops are just "patrolling" iraq with no clear enemy.

There have been skirmishes along the syrian border the past few weeks rooting out insurgents. But no gun fighting with terrorists, unless I missed something that happened in afghanistan recently.

Although I was against the war before, as al qaeda begins to become more involved in Iraq, the more we need to have our troops stay there, help develop the government and the military, and kill some al qaeda.

Never, not even for a second, forgetting the false premise to this war. It is ironic that people who share PAD's ideology will simultaneously condemn Saddam's genocide whilst embracing genocide as a wartime strategy for ending terror, Saddam killing Kurds would be the unfortunate status quo, and the country would be in most likelihood, free of al qaeda, if we stayed the fuck out, instead focusing on Afghanistan and Pakistan (for starters).

So, because we fucked the country up, now alqaeda's in there, and it's our responsibility to keep them out. We broke it, we bought it. Hmm, I dunno if it's relevant to the OP, but those are my two cents.
