Are SFIV fightpads reliable?

I am contemplating on getting a Madcatz's SFIV fightpad but I read on some reviews that sometimes the dongles get fried and the d-pad gets stuck.

How reliable are they? I don't want to spend more on what I paid for to get it.

Well they aren't terrible, and it honestly comes down to whichever system you have. If you have a PS3, you don't necessarily need to get one, I'd invest in a fight stick instead. However, if you have and xbox the fightpads are significantly better than the Xbox 360 controller so something is better than nothing. I play all my fighters on my PS3, and I own two fightpads and two fight sticks, and I haven't had a single issue with my pads.

I have a PS3 and a TE stick but I suck at it. I'm just more used to using a pad as I can pull off some of the more advanced combos with it so I'm thinking maybe a pad will work for me better.
