I've never had the urge to take the plung to buy or trade for something on the Trade board. Nothing has really impressed me. Also I'm not the type of CAG who buys extra cheap stuff to trade so I have very little I'd be willing to trade

What are some of your best deals from the trade board ? And am I the only one who can't seem to find a good deal on that board ?

I'd say it's better to call most of the trades here "fair deals" rather than good deals. I've had deals where I came out ahead and others where money wise I was behind, it's really a question of what interests you and what you would be willing to trade to get it.

As far as a reason to trade games, you will always do better in trading games here than you will trading them in at EB or GS (baring a few very good, extremely rare trade in deals). Plus you can often find used games at prices lower than those on ebay.
There's some good DVDeals to be found because of the general lack of interest in them. Works for me!
Remember when people thought you were a threadcrapper just because you have a silly name, Mr. Macy? I do.

On-topic, you can sometimes find some good prices for things in peoples' lists... I never really trade though.

I traded a lot in the first year I was here, its can be a good way to find things that are not generally on ebay. It is also a good way to swap for things that you want directly.

Example, I have a lot of baseball cards that I would rather just trade for games that I was going to buy anyways.

Also a good way to trade modded system an like items.

i found major deals in the trading boards example

traded a Lunar 2 disc only for Arc the lad collection disc only that we got from the gamecrazy 5 buck sale. I mean show me another place you can get ARC the lad for 5 bucks

Picked up ncaa march madness 2005 for a Astro boy (again 5 buck Sale)

picked up Disc only Legend of mana for ps1 for 10 bucks

and last year i was able to dump around 20 months of gamefly for around 150 bucks

so i got to say i like the trading boards

You really have to work at it to find a good match . . . but I love the trading board here.

I can be particularly good when the clearance deals are flowing. Many times I traded Target clearance items for other Target clearance items not in my store. Trade a $5 game and add $2.50 postage and you have a $7.50 game that you wanted.

Did about 10 trades during last year's CC clearance and got almost all of the games I wanted!

Also, I trade penny guides . . . so I get guides that I want for $2.

But I've never done any other trade boards . . . so, I guess this one is sparse compared to IGN . . .

It all depends really. I've offered some deals before on the trading boards, only to not sell a single item (Steel Battalion recently). On the other hand I've gotten some great games off the trading board for fairly cheap (like the Mega Man Collection for Xbox for 10.00 shipped), so it really just depends on how hard you look and having a bit of luck.

people are generally selling things on the cheap. a lot of people are selling cc games for 14 to 15 bucks. i am selling the tiger woods 2k4 games for $12.50 shipped simply bc i dont want to drive to CC to return them, so i will just sell them at cost.

OP, if you are looking to buy, as it soudns like that might be the case, you can probably find some good deals, 2 weeks ago there was some dude selling snes and gba games at very reasonable prices, he hooked a lot of fools up on some very good deals(well under ebay prices).

the only thing is the good priced items tend to sell pretty quick, so you need to be fast.

I enjoy trading here and helping others out when they can't find their games from a clearence of whatever. I have been involved with a few interesting trades and have gotten my share of great deals doing trades. Sure there maybe are some I regret a bit (traded Disgaea and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (PS2) for what amounted to 4 TRU clearence games), but even in those cases I was helping out a CAG and I didn't get ripped off from an amount spent standpoint.
Best deal for me, Zelda CE + Guide, 15 bucks. Thanks Shrike!
Glad someone mentioned my name in here. :D I was starting to worry.

"Great deals" are in the eye of the beholder. It also depends on the motivation on who's selling, who's buying, and the reasons for both. People who sell because they need money can be better deals, because they're trying to generate cash and some cash is better than none. It also depends on the wants of both sides, since if one wants a game really badly, and they can trade for it instead of buy it, that might be a great deal for them, since it doesn't cost them money (at that moment) to get the game.

I think we all trade/sell/buy on CAG because we know the community, and for the most part, we do it to get games to/from other CAGs and know there tends to be much less crap around on CAG than on larger sites or on eBay. I know that's why I do it. I'm not in it for the money, if I was, I'd be on eBay. Shipping, packaging, and time all come into play, and it depends how much people value those things to be. My prices reflect just shipping + Paypal fees, the packaging and time I don't factor into there, as that's part of the process to make it sellable/tradeable.

If the other party is happy with the deal and they say so in their feedback, I'd consider it a "great deal" for them, since they're getting what they want, especially if they come back for a second (or third, or more) deal. I guess I must be doing something right, since I have quite a few CAGs that have come back more than once, and in some cases, more than 4 times. I go out of the way to pick up games for other CAGs when sales go on (like the current CC sale going on, and plenty of others in the past), since I know that a favor to one CAG can always be a favor back to you at another point. Never can have enough favors on here. :D

Just my $0.02.

It's not like you are going to find someone having a $5 clearance sale on hot new games....

your best deals will come through trading. You never know who wants what you have and who doesn't want what you want. I like it best when people don't twitch about the prices of games and are just cool with the fact that sometimes trades aren't always equal(like within a few bucks.)

I did :p

I've gotten a lot of NES games for 3-4 shipped.

My last deal was
Mercenaries, Halo, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Phantom Dust, Ninja Gaiden, Burnout 3, Gunvalkyrie, and Forza Motorsport all for $100. Pretty damn good deal in my opinion. Thanks cthcky ^_^

Most people trading on CAG are not trying to get one up on someone else . . . I try to get fair deals and don't want to rip off a CAGer.

I will sell games at about cost to help out someone is bummed because they missed it in their location.

The great thing about CAG is that we (mostly) look out for each other.

If I want to make money on something I will just take it straight to ebay . . . I'm not trying to make money on CAGers. I sold off some of my better CC booty last year (a Disgaea, MvC2, Ikaruga) and I didn't even consider selling or trading them on CAG.

That's one of the main things that I like about CAG, we all try to give each other good deals, good oportunities, etc. Not like on most other trading boards, like IGN and 1up where people just want to rip you off and try to get over ebay prices.
I did :p
Congrats, you are the proud owner of some stolen merchandise ;-)

j.k. I meant new as in new releases....i wouldn't doubt that you could find some sealed games for 5

i got the sonic collection for PS2 as a gift and turned it into Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, and Secret of Mana (+60) so out of pocket about 65 for 3 great SNES RPGs... id say thats pretty good.

Most of the tim you can find games for a good amount less than current retail, which is a good start. But I really think that most of the time people are looking to make "fair" trades that are relatively balanced for both parties. I've been doing a ton of trading/selling on here, and I haven't been disappointed with a single transaction.
