I just bought a uniden elt 560 from staples, normally $100 but on sale for $30 ($50 rebate but it can be done instantly online). I'm not sure if I should keep it though. I've always bought panasonic phones (my old one died a week ago, though the speakerphone part still works) and never had any experience with uniden models. I can't really find any reviews of this particular model online. It's kinda cool looking, it's a flip phone and looks exactly like a cell phone, but I don't want it if the company usually produces gimicky, poor quality phones.

In my experience, Uniden is reliable. Only purchased one of their phones for myself, but it hasn't had any problems, and I'm on year 2 with it. It's a so far so good situation. Sometimes it made clicking noises during conversation, but nothing too bad.

Panasonic, however, was terrible with the models my family had.

I realize this doesn't help much but it's a start.

I decided to keep it. I just found it can hook up to your pc and you can type in your address book on the pc and then transfer it to the phone (a lot quicker this way). You can do the same with ringtones, personal pics (that show when certain people call or for the main screen background). I just got a call, the sound isn't the greatest, but the extras are a lot more than I'd expect for a regular phone. I just wish I had my speakerphone back  .

I have a cheap one and it sort of sucks (doesn't hold a charge well at all despite only being a year or so old, and it's hard to hear the other person well) but I've heard good things about the more expensive models. I have a Panasonic now (the two phone set) and I love them.

I agree with everyone here. Good quality phones. I have found that some times some of their gimmick phones have some of the worst battery life times though.

I've got a cheap Uniden I got from a Wal-Mart for $20 years ago, and it works great. I've never had a problem (or had to replace the battery, for that matter.) You did good.
