Area 51 - UFOs, Aliens, and X-Files

Nematode

CAGiversary!
I was psyched to hear about this game coming out. The post half-life / Halo 2 drought in FPSs has really made me look forward to Area 51 (and DOOM III of course).

I was reading up on some Area 51 reviews and the game sounds like the complete package (FPS, co-op, 16 player MP, alien powers, cool storyline). Plus they have David Duchovny doing voice overs for X-files fans, like meself (they have Marlyn Manson too as an alien, hah).

Anyone else looking forward to this or get their hands on the demo? Would love to hear about the gameplay and see if it is as cool as the trailers make it seem...

The demo is on Mortal Kombat: Deception, dude.. it's awesome. I've said it from day one and I'll say it again - this will stand toe to toe with Halo. Area 51 will be excellent.

Manson is in everything. I think he also did some music for Cold Fear coming out

I thought the demo for this was decent. I guess we'll see what kind of following this gets. I'll need something different on LIVE instead of Halo2.

There are just LOTS of FPS coming out, tough to decide what I really want

Yeah I played the demo and thought it was pretty sweet. I still probably won't get it at release, though, too many other things I need to spend my money on.

This game does look pretty cool, but I've decided to wait until I can get it for around $20-30 to pick it up. There are so many good FPS coming out the first half of this year (Timesplitters: FP, Area 51, Pariah, UC2, and SW:RC) and I want them all.

I was really impressed with the Demo movie I saw on the Mortal Kombat game. I dont know if it will stand toe to toe with Halo but if its close, I will definately pick this up!
Hmm, wasn't there a light-gun game also named Area 51, back in the early 90's?...
Yeah, and by Midway. This is kind of a "spiritual succesor".

yeah, right now im either picking up this or Timesplitters 3. i was very unimpressed with David Duchovnyin XIII. Everything he said was the same motonous, mumbly, tone. If it wasn't for the captions I'd have no idea what XIII says, not that he says anything really important.

I hope that Midway decides to include the arcade game with Area 51. Even without lightgun support it would be fun to play it again.

Hey guys, if you don't read OPM, then you didn't see that they had an interview which they locked Marilyn Manson and David Duchovny in a room so they had to interview themselves. Well, they have quite an interesting interview and OPM had an expanded interview up on their site for readers to read what else they talked about. Here's the Alien Autopsy. Enjoy.
Seems very cool. As a die-hard X-Files/aliens/UFO/etc. fan I will be picking it up for sure.
Thats kinda the boat I am in right now. It seems like this game is combining all the sci-fi things I like so how can I resist? How is the AI and the fact that it takes place IN Area 51. Did they have large expansive rooms at all?

CrashSpyrro -- I check out that interview. Woah. Those are some weird folks, MM was off the wall and had his head in the gutter the whole time.

Sorry for double post. Was just reading on Gamespot that Area 51 is confirmed for April 25th. Looks like it might beat Doom III to the shelves since it keeps getting postponed...:(

4/5...not too shabby. I am trying to get my hands on the OPM but the darn CVS doesn't carry it. I found the web site, set up like a blog with a mysterious Dr. Cray posting messages from "inside Area 51". Somewhat interesting, they have some cool trailers on there...
