You ever have one of those moments where you do something on the computer or in a game where you inadvertantly destroy hours of work? Well I had one of those moments tonight, was watching "The Office" while booting up "The Lost Vikings" on the GBA. On the menu "new game" is at the top of the menu and "load game" is the 2nd item on the menu. Without realizing it I clicked new game, then clicked on my save slot to load up my 94% completed save file...and was greeted by the cinema for the opening of the game. "Oh fuck fuck fuck" I exclaimed, as I switched off the power and booted it back up. Upon arriving at the menu, I selected the 2nd item load game, went to my save slot, and stared blankly at the 00% completed save file...

Ouch. Yeah, I rented a copy of Diablo for PS1 and when I went to save it, it formatted the rest of my memory card. I was pretty upset so I carved, "fuck Diablo" on the CD. Still 'till this day, fuck Diablo. That game can suck it.

I'm sorry man. I sympathize with your pain. :whistle2:|

see, when i read that sentence, i thought you lost an 8 page assignment while it was nearing completion (as i, and i'm sure numerous others have). considering the subject matter, didn't you destroy hours of play? anyway, i know you threw in the qualifier of "or in a game"... i'm just saying. it sucks, but take solace that it could be worse.

LOL!

Here's a story I remember from 6th grade:
Pokemon was the craze. My friend Jason had like 70 hours on Pokemon Red... He brought it to school one day.

My other friend Josh, after getting permission from Jason, starts up and plays a little bit in the morning, before class started. Once 8:00 came around, it was time to quit. Josh decided he'd save. Now, I believe Pokemon only allows one save slot... so, Josh decided to overwrite it.

I found it hilarious. Jason was pretty much in shock, but he's an extremely easy-going guy so Josh was spared a thrashing. When asked why he did it, Josh responded that he felt he was "doing good and that it deserved to be saved." (He had probably played for 3-5 minutes.)

I dunno. I've always thought it was hilarious when I looked back on it.

Sorry to hear about your game getting over written. But hey its a fresh start!!.... right..... sorry...

The original Tomb raider for the ps1, I always , and still do, use one save slot and over write when i save. Well I fell down a cliff for the 100th time. Being you die every seconed falling into things, i went to reload the last spot. I pulled the same thing the op did and saved by accident. SO now every time it loaded it was just endlessly falling into the black pit..... goood memorys...

I'm sure I've accidentally overwritten saves before, but nothing I recall at the moment. Back in the SNES days, my sister would save over so many of my games. I was so pissed. She later went on to sell my N64 collection for drug money.

Last week, I was sitting in class, and it looked like it was going to storm all day. Finally, at around 6:30 or so, it finally happened: the storm started full swing and the power went out. The class immediately went silent, taken aback by the sudden darkness. After about 10 or so seconds of dead air, I said, "Man, you just know there's some kid in the computer lab typing up an essay that wasn't saved yet."

A similar thing happened to me after muchprocrastination and TEN HOURS of last minute work. I wanted to cry and/or smash things.

And you all know that things never sound as good the second time you attempt to compose a final draft. Never.

I was speaking in generalities, anything which takes time and is saved to an electronic medium. Lost Vikings is a fun game, but it will kick your ass quite a bit, the level I had been stuck on for days I knew exactly how to beat it but these series of dropping lava and electric beams would get the Jumping viking every single time  :bomb:

Years ago in High School I was working late on an assignment for creative writing, I don't whether because it was late I wasn't thinking clearly, but I sat down and created a rough draft, then refined it and didn't save it the entire time. I put in a 3 1/2 inch floppy disk, clicked save. I wanted to create a new folder to put the work in, so I right clicked in the "save where" window to create a new folder, the folder was created and then Microsoft works froze... As mentioned, a second retyping from memory is almost never as good as the original copy.

Months later the same thing happened again when working on another piece of work when I finally realized it was a bug in the Works, it would crash everytime you created a new folder in the "save in where" file window.

I lost 90 hours of play in DW7. I was pulling an all night gaming session but my eyelids got heavy so I decided to save for the night. I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing (I was running on auto-pilot) and shut the game down for the night. When I went to check my progress the next day I couldn't find my game. Apparently I'd created a new game and saved right on top of the old game. #-o:bomb:
