Army of Two 40th Day $39.99 @ Meijer starting 1/24

Is there any real point at buying games at launch now? It seems every game goes to 40$ in under two weeks.

They never used to do that though, I for one am glad games go on sale not too long after they're released.

I know they never used to do that. It started around when L4D2, MW2 and AC2 came out at around the same time.

Seems to be due to Amazon, Walmart and others slugging it out on launch games. I'm pretty happy about it myself.

Demon Soul isn't dropping.

Neither is BlazBlue.

I love them both for it. LOVE EM.

But yeah, I do enjoy getting games near launch for a reasonable price. Competition is always in people's favor.

this actually irks the hell out of me, I bought AC2, Darksiders, and a few others on their launch day and I can't finish them fast enough, so most are still in their wrappers and they are dropping in price. I am about to cancel all my preorders for February and wait to buy them a few weeks later, I'd save 20 bucks a pop.

Never quite understood why people buy games at launch when they already have a huge backlog.

For the pre-order codes/etc.?

yeah i usually only preorder games for the bonus items you get, like in AC2 you got the special tombs or extra areas or w/e. And Mass Effect 2 CE comes with special armor and weapons, ect...stuff like that.

Agreed...

I've never deemed preorder incentives enough to pay full price. The only preorders I've done have been recently with the Amazon credit deals.

It's an addiction. I ought to know, I have it.

Same here. The Amazon pre-orders are usually a few bucks cheaper, have no tax and throw in another $10 credit that I can use for a game I was going to buy anyway. I am still scaling those deals back except for must-play-today games like Mass Effect.
