Audio AX360 Optical Gaming Headset $49.99 after Rebate Frys.com

Bought this at Fry's a couple of months ago with a similar deal (don't think the rebate was as much back then, though).

It's a good 5.1 headset, but for those that don't know, it plugs directly into your system via optical cable. So it's great if you don't have the space or money for a true 5.1 surround sound speaker system, but otherwise you'll be switching optical plugs a lot (between your headset and reciever). It won't just plug into a standard jack... the headset actually plugs into a small control unit that needs to be powered.

The internal speakers work well enough, though obviously it doesn't work as well as a regular 5.1 reciever + speakers, and the .1 or "subwoofer" is actually just vibration.

I also picked these up at Fry's B&M a few weeks ago. They were on sale for I think around $70 after rebate. In a word: suckage.

They were quite heavy and didn't quite fit right. They weren't snug at all, and if I turned my head too quickly, they would slip right off. They also didn't sound very good. Each of the 'speakers' had its own volume which made it difficult to adjust. They are just more trouble than they're worth. I have an set of low end Sennheisers that I bought for like $50 a few years ago... and they sound way better than these 5.1 headphones. Save your money and buy a nice $50 set of headphones. Or if you're gonna buy these, make sure you can return them!
