Avail. of Wireless Gaming Receiver for 360 Controllers on PC

So, with the recent string of steam sales I've amassed a large collection of games. Many of them would be suitable for playing with a 360 controller [and support it].

I have three wireless controllers, the wireless racing wheel, and several wireless musical game peripherals. However, the only wired 360 controller I have in my possession is a third-party gamestop cheapie. Not even the madcatz version. So, needless to say- the wireless gaming receiver would be a good choice... assuming I could find one.

It seems Microsoft has discontinued the product, and it wasn't carried extensively by retailers in the first place in my area. Haven't seen them in superstores, best buys, etc.

Most online retailers are either sold out, or selling refurb ($25 microcenter) or a third-party product ($16 dealextreme).

I may end up buying the refurb or the knockoff from dealextreme, but both of those options [dealextreme especially] have long ship times associated. I have no issue with the product being used/refurb/knockoff- mostly with finding it local.

Looking for advice for finding it in B&M stores, gamestop, etc. Going to be calling a few places soon assuming their holiday hasn't started already.

Thanks in advance,
I apologize for the long post- It's just my nature.

I can usually find it at any B&M store I go to. This might be a dumb question but, have you looked in the PC section of the stores? That's where I usually find them. Do you also have a Frys store around your area?

I've checked a few B&M's, with no luck. And yeah, the pc section, but the places I've checked casually I didn't fully expect to have it.

No Fry's unfortunately, there is a microcenter but a bit of a drive.

Called gamestop and they gave a pretty standard reply about not carrying it anymore. There's a string of 3-4 on the same stretch of road (mall) I might check to see if they have used later today.

Yeah I saw that, but I already have too many controllers. Considered just buying it and selling the controller to a friend for cheap- but I'm pretty sure they're set.

Gamestop doesn't even take them used [corp. classifies it as a PC peripheral]. Checked a bunch of other places- I'm just going to buy the third party from dealextreme with some other stuff I've been eying there. Only issue with dx is the ~month ship times.

DX has been getting betting with their ship time, they might surprise you. The other issue is the worthless software that comes with the DX version. Sounds like it's doable, but annoying at best.

Yeah the driver thing doesn't bother me too much- I rarely bother with driver discs anyways.

Good to hear about the ship times though, there's a lot of nice little gadgets on there. Have a really nice phone dock for my car from them.
