I work at a grocery store, and the video department inside is closing, so they're selling all their DVD's and Blu-Rays. I was informed yesterday that today would be the last day they had stuff for sale and that Blu-Rays would be marked down to $2.50 a piece. I went in today and picked up the following:

The International
Changeling
Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Gone Baby Gone
Black Swan
Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
Takers
The Bank Job

All for a grand total of $21.20. Pretty happy with my purchase. Made waking up at 10AM on a Sunday worth it.

I was surprised Blu-Rays were included honestly. Apparently they also had PS3 and 360 games on sale at one point too (like, relatively new stuff for $5), unfortunately they were all picked over at this point though. Luckily most of the people around here have no clue what Blu-Rays are, so they still had a pretty good selection left.

Random question but do you work at Food City?

I figured, they closed most of the videos around here too. I worked at one but didnt buy many blu rays cause I hate the way the would get rid of the digital copies when they put them out for rent. Not sure how yours did it but ours sold the digitals for like 3 bucks a piece.

Pretty sure they just threw them away here. I'm not surprised they closed the video/game rental part, their prices were dumb. It was like $8 for a game for three nights and a movie for one night was I believe $4 (considering there is a Redbox right down the street, that's a dumb business move).

The one chain in this area(Price Chopper out of Schenectady, NY) closed down all of their video/game rental shops they had in their stores around here a year or two ago. Unfortunately they didn't have anywhere near the prices the OP mentioned for games or movies when they shut them down.:whistle2:#

I actually passed up some Blu-Rays on Sunday at a garage sale for 3 dollars a piece. Figured they wouldn't be worth reselling. I was thinking about Avatar and Disney's Earth, but... I dunno, I just figure they'd end up selling for 6 - 7 dollars. Maybe I made a mistake.
