aww, this Gamestop sucks

i was just searching for some kinda rare games on gamestop.com and found Ogre Battle, G Darius, and Hoshigami were all at this new Gamestop i hadn't been to yet. i drive 20 minutes to get there, and not a single one of them have cases or manuals. and they were CHEAPER than on the site. it's like they threw away everything but the disc when the games were traded in.

i did get a 3 pack of Pelican MCs for $5. anyone heard anything good or bad about Pelican MCs?

You have to call ahead before you drive out like that...stuff like that they should keep the cases but people don't always keep their own. I've had people trade in Suikoden and a whole bunch of other rpgs without cases...but they were in like new condition.

I asked a guy at GS about the cases and manuals once and he said they just throw them out and sleeve the disc. Even on GBA games that have boxes and manuals are thrown out. They only keep them if a worker wants it. I am not sure why they do this. I know there are plenty of people that keep everything nice and trade it in. I have seen some great games in mint condition there that don't have everything so I won't buy them.

Good job. That one was actually funny. :D

That actually is what they do, mainly because of space issues. Any form of packaging or any manuals that come with used games are both unimportant - as long as the actual game works, they can sell it. They've only got so much floor space and storage room...anything that eats into that is a bad thing for them.

It's been said before, and in much better ways, but I hope that helped.

no i like how they throw out the sleeves, then they photocopy the front of the sleeve and put it in, so when i see a game, i pick it up and flip it over to look at the back, and theres nothing there, so i look like a dumbass.

after that happens about 5 times in a row, i just leave the store..

Yes, but have opened an empty PS2 or Xbox case that you know is empty to see the disc for no apparent reason? I used to watch my customers at EB due it over and over again and then tell me the game was stolen. I never laughed but it was tough sometimes. Especially when the regular customers did it.

lmao i was in gamestop the other day and these little kids were runnin around opening gamings and seeing that they were empty and they were like.. "DAAAANG SOMEBODY STOLE ALL THESE GAMES!" ... i almost laughed at them.. lmao.

See i dont get this. I've tried to trade in games twice (they were crappy old gameboy ones when it was traide in 4 gb games get a gba game for free). Once to EB and once to Babbages (gamestop) Both told me that i need to have both the box and manual to trade anything in. Maybe its just a new jersey thing or maybe my stores are evil and sell traded in games for new (i'm pretty sure they do) But i dont think i've ever run across a used game that didnt have the case and manual. I dont buy used games except a ps1 game i got once. But it had both the case and manual. I only sometime notice some n64 games with makeshift boxes in the eb by my college in pa, but never here at home.
I usually open the case to see if there is a manual...
Same here, some GS stores around here leave the manuals in the cases on the shelf, others don't.
3rd party memory cards should be used for saves you don't care about. That is the general consensus most of the time.
In what universe do these type of saves exist? If I didn't care about it, I wouldn't be saving it! :D

I usually open the case to see if there is a manual...

yea i did this one time, and found a game in good condition, and it had the manual... i went to buy it and the guy at the counter put it in a drawer, and pulled out another copy of the game with one of the shittiest cases i've ever seen, and it had no manual, and he rang that up and sold it to me...

that's fuked up, lol.

besides said Gamestop, the EBs and other Gamestops around Columbia all keep the manuals in the games, so i know what i'm getting. very convenient.

and yeah, the Gamestop without the cases did have photocopied pictures of the game in the front. G Darius did at least. i wonder how many sales they lose on account of saving space.
