Hi,
I have a Mastercard Debit Card tied to my PayPal account that I earn 1.5% back on for all purchases that are processed as "credit" meaning that I don't enter my pin at the time of purchase.
The 1.5% is for being PayPal preffered on eBay (I'm grandfathered in, I think the current offer is 1%).
So anytime I use the card at a store and sign for it (i.e. credit) or online I earn 1.5% back and the money is deducted from my PayPal account.
I noticed this morning when checking my PayPal account I had charges that were processed as "Debit" from Amazon. This means I don't earn cashback on those.
I wasn't sure how it was possible for online purchases to process as debit but when I checked my payment options in my Amazon account I noticed the card showed up as "Debit Card" instead of how it used to be titled which was "Mastercard".
When I clicked a few links I noticed Amazon now has Debit card opt in as "Pin-less Debit". I'm not sure what that means or how it differs from running them as credit (I'm guessing the charges just post instantly instead of processing over the span of a few days) but you can uncheck the box and go back to having them process as credit if you earn rewards like I do.
