Hopefully this isn't a repost (did a search and couldn't find it)...

I was in Borders today and they are apparently running a Buy 2 Get 1 Free promo on ALL graphic novels, manga, and trade paperbacks. The least expensive one is free obviously...the promotion runs til 4/24 and is apparently B&M only.

Edit:

Yeah this deal is a great way to get yourself started on a new series or something...

I also forgot to mention that stock varies by store obviously, but I placed an order for a book while i was there and asked if it you can count books you order from their warehouse to the store and the clerk said he didn't see why not.

So next week it should be nice to pick up Star Wars: Visionaries and two other titles.

Perfect for Sin City. Plus, that 10 dollar gift card from AMEX from that topic awhile back arrived for me today. Now, the question is, do I get the first three (Hard goodbye, The Big Fat Kill, That Yellow Bastard), which are featured in the movie, or the next three after to see how Frank Miller continues with his stories...

Actually, I believe there's one in between the Hard Goodbye and the Big Fat Kill called a Dame to Kill For. And if you're getting the Big Fat Kill, you really should get A Dame to Kill For... they have the same main character and the events in them do have an order to them, so reading the books in order is better. If you're only getting three, I'd say Hard Goodbye, dame to Kill For, and The Big Fat Kill.

I'm going to swing by after work and see what they have.

Has anyone tried using the 10% discount coupon that Ackbar posted for this?

It should... the coupon states it combines with whatever other sales are going on. For those that haven't seen the other thread:
At Borders you can get three graphic novels for the price of two. That's for all you manga and comic fans.

Borders Specials

Plus there's a 10% off Coupon.

10% off Entire purchase till 4/30
"Discount combines with all sale pricing and promotions."
If manga is included I'm pissed... just bought 2 titles there a couple days ago!!!
Yep, included, nice selection too, but I only picked up 3 Ranma 1/2 normally $9.95 for less than $20 after tax with the 10% off coupon. I'll be going again when the next Fruits Basket comes out in a few weeks.

They didn't give me a hard time with the coupon, but the clerk had to ask for assistance, may have been new there.

Wooooooo yea. 5 Sin City books and 7 graphic novels for $99. Saved ~$35 from what I would've paid (~$150 + 10% off). Make sure if you buy a ton of books that the clerk puts the expensive books together since it counts the free book after every 3.

Thanks OP and also Ackbar for the coupon.
anyone know if they count manga as graphic Novels?
Yes, most certainly manga is included (probably should've mentioned that before and adjusted the title accordingly). I actually went to another store and bought Gundam SEED Astray R Vol. 1, Arm of Kannon 1 and Blade of Heaven Vol. 1...
I dropped $96 tonight, I'll go back for more a different store with a hopefully better selection.
I went online and reserved copies of a few things at a different location, going to pick them up tonight. :D

drop 80.00 today and also found Clamp No Kiseki!! (Clamps new series with the limited chess pieces!) They are so cool! Thanx again OP, ill be back next week again muwha ha ha ha ha !

Only spent another $50 today. Unless I just find 3 somethings I have to have I'm done with this deal. Thanks again Duo. :D

No problem...Looks like everyone is spending alot of money on this deal, wish I could spend that much too. But you can't stop now...

I mean we got Star Wars Visionaries, Berserk Vol 7, Samurai Executioner 4, Battle Royale 12, King of Hell Vol 9, Samurai Deeper Kyo Vol 12, Gundam SEED Astray R Vol 2, Peacemaker Vol 3, and Kenshin Vol 13 all still coming out in the scope of this deal. I can't stop now even if it disaterous to my pocketbook.

If I do end up getting anything else it'll likely be all 12 of the Battle Royales.

I was pretty happy with what I bought today. Sin City vols 2-4 set me back 35 bucks. Not too shabby. I was tempted to go back, but I think I need to save some cash.

I made a liar out of myself, picked up Trigun Max 1-3 Monday afternoon.

Good news is that I spend so much money on books this week that I can't afford to impulsively buy a PSP. Which I would have done anyway if target had Lumines in stock.

Obviously I don't want one very badly; best buy is across the street and I know I could have gotten Lumines there right after.

Yeah, I couldn't resist going back earlier today as I picked up Star Wars Visionaries, I also got Batman: Night Cries and Batman: Child of Dreams.

I'm curious how different Trigun Maximum is from the series and the first two manga novels, which I bought sometime ago.

Nice.. Thanks OP. Here's my chance to pick up the next three Ken Akamatsu mangas. Problem is, as soon as I get there I just know the whole damn shelf is gonna be calling out my name... :D

Me too. :D

Just got back from a lunch break visit. Bought a couple of Negima books and the first Battle Royale. I gotta say, the premise described on the back cover of BR is mighty interesting. If I wind up liking it, I'll have to get my wallet ready to pick up 11 more!

Fortunately, I was able to hold myself back from picking up any other titles today.

Thanks for posting Duo, you saved me 30 bucks. I just picked up 6 trades (Transmetropolitan, Sandman Mystery Theater, Sin City: Family Values) for $60.

I just reserved Trigun Max 3 and Battle Royale 1-3 & 5-12 for in store pickup (4 was OOS at that store). I'll pick them up tomorrow, along with anything else that catches my eye as long as there are at least 3 of them.

This sale is killing me.

I forgot to thank you for this. I picked up Battle Royale 4-7 and Naruto 2-4 with this deal, and plan to finish Naruto, Battle Royale, and get Sin City before the deal ends.

Picked up v1's of Samurai Deeper Kyo, Jing: King of Bandits, Trigun Max. Expanding my horizons a bit...
Also read Battle Royale v1 - that's some disturbing stuff. Disturbing, but I think I'm gonna head back for more.

I went back as well and finished off Maison Ikkoku and Kare Kano, also they are giving out coupons in store for 5.00 off any purchase of 30.00 or more, the coupon is good from 4/19 to 4/25 so its just in time for this sale ^^

Damn! How much $$$ did you spend on this sale?

I am so tempted to stop by on the way home and just buy an entire series of something. Drop a couple of hundred $$$ on manga or save for my kid's college tuition? Am I bad father for even considering this? Argh!!!

I made the mistake of going back today and dropping another $40, and then they gave me a coupon for $5 off my next $30 or more purchase next week. Gives me a few days a least to read what I have before I waste more money.

I spent $20 and bought angel sanctuary vol. 7 rurouni kenshin vol. 13 and battle vixens vol. 5 :)
I was so pissed that the next vol or prince of tennis wasnt out yet lol

Their prices are a little high but everything Graphic Novel/Manga wise rings up without a coupon just three books that qualify, from what I have experienced.
Picked up some low price sets
Sandman 40 Postcard Set
Books of Magic
Death High Cost
waiting for some newer stock to take further advantage of this deal
thanks for the tip

That's a good price, volume 8 should be out this week too. The series is supposed to be 16 volumes, is the box that big?
