well, i mean, think about what you're saying there for a second.
If the person is mentally ill then there is a chance that they can be helped. This doesn't condone their actions, but there is some empathy at play here. I don't think they need to be, as you put it " coddled by psycho-babbling "doctors." But I do think that I'd rather spend some time trying to find ways to make people into productive members of society as opposed to locking them up with thousands of others, paying for it, feeding them and doing nothing.
In a situation like this, one is bound to feel anger or even hatred, but as we can see by the overwhelmingly packed prisons across America, something isn't working.
