[Back!] Saint's Row - $39.90 Play-Asia - Confirmed Region Free

People keep saying it is really good. 39.90 is a fantastic price, if it is as good as the current reviews indicate.

We = pwnt.

We know that it says that....but they never update that until a few days/weeks after the game is out once they get the game tested and can 100% guarantee that it does or does not work.....until they do that they leave it as it is.....

.....dont give up hope that easily

They don't put "No Region Protection" on there until it's confirmed for certain to be totally region free. Seeing as how, at least according to their release date, that the Asian version of it is not out now they probably have no sure way of confirming it just yet.

Well, according this to the Wiki below, the PAL version of Saints Row (which came out last week) is confirmed as being completely region free.

http://wiki.xboxic.com/Region-free_Xbox_360_Games

Chances are extremely good that the Asian version will region free also. We won't know for sure until it releases, but I'd honestly be shocked if it wasn't.

I ordered it a while ago from PA because my Xbox 360 is Japanese. Kind of ironic that I'm also getting a better price than I could get around here. It should be shipping soon.

My guess is that it will be region free as it's published by THQ and all their other 360 games have been region free. I'm sure we will know very soon.

I edited the OP to reflect that we don't know if it's region free for sure.

AWESOME! So if it is, will the menus be in english? And I will be able to play with people in the US on live, right?

If it's anything like the other Asian version of 360 games, yes it should be in English and playable on Live. And yes, the PAL version works on US 360s so I'd bet this game is region free. I'd wait for it myself but with nearly half of my friends list having gotten it pre-launch already I'm just too excited to wait any longer.
how much is shipping to the states typically? also, any coupon codes avail.? Thanks!
I was charged about $3.50 for them to ship IQ Mania to me...

The coupon codes are usually good if you spend over $50. Shipping is usually about $4 or so for one item.

I love Play Asia but since you can find Saints Row for $48 shipped (from a couple of places now), I'd just assume pay what amounts to about an extra $5 (maybe less) to have the game asap AND be sure it's playable. This is one game I'd rather not mess around with :) And even if it IS region free, you're looking at a couple of week's wait. Not sure it's worth saving $5 this time out.
where else is it for $48 besides overstock? they don't seem to ship much faster than from play asia...
Outpost has it too. I had DEAD RISING 2 days after release last time out.

i got mine for $46.87 from Overstock...there is another thread stating its $48 but if you use the 12% link and then the link in the other thread you get $46.87
How long does it take to ship from play-asia?(To figure out when we will know if it works)
It took me a little more than 1 week to receive my I.Q. PSP. I have heard this is pretty typical. Not too bad, considering this is shipped from Hong Kong. You'll know if it works sooner - the site will likely tell us if it's region free when they get their hands on a copy (which is supposed to happen August 31st).

From the 360 games I ordered before, about 10-14 days on each. It's definitely not bad considering the savings. Had this been $59 at other outlets I would have jumped all over it (provided it's playable in the U.S., obviously), but I'll stick with my Outpost order this time out.

Nice price but I ordered for $44.99 when Outpost had it at that price. I bought GRAW from Play-Asia, and although the game looks like the US version (Probably is) and plays great, I find it hard to recommend them if you are in any sort of rush to play the game. GRAW took over a week to receive. Grant you it's cheap shipping and overseas, just be aware it's sloooooooow.

Agreed. And my SAINTS ROW just came in from Outpost, too! :)

Clarification, are the discs region free or is the Xbox 360 just ignoring the region coding for now?
I would hate to buy a Play Asia game, then MS comes out with a required fix, and poof! my games have turned into coasters.

From what I understand, the publisher has the freedom to insert region coding or not into their game. Xbox360 just provided a way to insert and detect the region coding. To answer your question, MS wouldn't come out patch or fix for this as this is NOT a problem or bug.

Still who know, as anything is possible, but very unlikely.

Just got word from Play-Asia...tested and confirmed region free.
The update on their website may not appear yet, but it is so.

They just shipped my copy. By the way, does this mean that the copies of Saint's Row sold in North America are also region free? I would assume so. (This kind of thing matters to those of us with non-US Xbox 360s.)

Actually from what I understand the US is probably the most region-locked of all A good rule of thumb is to assume anything you can get here in retail is region locked.

No Japan region games will work on a USA 360.

Are there any concerns about online play or achievements or anything else or does it work 100%?

As far as I can tell, they are identical to the US versions. I have the Japanese version of Perfect Dark Zero and the Asian version of Burnout Revenge, and they seem to be the same as the US versions (as long as you have your system set to English, the game will be in English, etc. Of course this might not be the case for games that were not originally in English -- games developed in Japan, for example, might not have English.)

I've also played online. I have had some occasional connection issues, but I think that's just due to my setup. I would think that if Asian games couldn't play on Xbox live, that they just wouldn't work at all, not work intermittently.

I am insterested in Saints Row and GRAW from this Play-aisa site. Are both of these games in English (game/music/case and manual)? If they are the Asian version, wouldnt they be in the respective Asian language?
