Barack Obama's Grandmother passed away RIP

Very very sad. I know me and millions of others were hoping she'd live till the 5th at least. We knew things were bad when Obama took a few days off just to visit her.

It's very sad that she won't live to see her grandson become the president, but it's good that he got to see visit and see her last month.

Not that Barack Obama would ever have wanted or planned this in a million years, of course, but on an unemotional level I have to think that the timing of this sad event will work in his campaign's favor. One, McCain and Palin (who are still attending rallies today and will be tomorrow) will be forced to curtail their usual attacks on Obama's character-- or look like incredible assholes if they don't. Two, tonight's news will be inundated with Obama family photos and images of his (white) grandparents, which may just humanize him a little in the eyes of people who see him as foreign and scary. At the very least, even if they still vote for McCain, maybe some of those people will be reassured by the reminder that Barack Obama is a normal American with a normal family.

Who's to say she doesn't represent the calm before the shitstorm happens when the election is stolen? I.e., gettin' out while the gettin's good?

Regardless, R.I.P.

R.I.P.

I can't believe the losers at some of these right wing sites (freerepublic, etc). They are honestly claiming this is a political stunt to get the "sympathy vote"...implying Obama's people actually killed the grandmother for political purposes. Sick.

^ Shit. And here my post was going to be a cynical "countdown to the 'Obama's pulling out all the stops to win the election' conspiracy in 3...2...1...oh, shit, they're already at it!"

Ha, ditto.

Great point. For some reason a lot of people are still shocked when they hear his mother was white. Dumbfucks, but this sad event could help that.

I was at that rally in Charlotte when Obama broke the news about it grandma.

It almost seems like a cruel joke that his grandmother passed the day before what could be the pinnacle of her grandson's life.
