BB Price Match/TRU 2 for $50 Question

Double-J

CAGiversary!
Hey All,

I clearly dun goofed, and picked up LA Noire (one of my most anticipated games of the summer, I waited until after passing exams to get it at a lower price) for $39.99 on Sunday at Best Buy as per their ad, which I had known about a week prior thanks to CAG. However, now I see that people are PM'ing TRU's 2 for $50 deal at Best Buy, and I have a bit of buyer's remorse. Is there any way I could go into Best Buy and bring my receipt, the TRU slinger, and a copy of Portal 2 (or another applicable title) off the shelf, and have them adjust the price so I pay $50+tax for two games rather than the $40+tax for just LA Noire? Or is that asking too much for a price match?

I realize I could just buy another copy of LA Noire and Portal 2 and then price match, and return my original LA Noire copy, but I'd rather avoid making a bunch of trips to do so. Any advice would be most greatly appreciated, fellow CAGs!

Price matching means just that, an actual price for an actual game. They never match prices for % off, or 2 for $50, or any other kind of sale. If the game isn't in an ad and at a stated price, they won't do a thing.

Thanks for the quick reply.

According to the TRU thread, people who bring the 2 for $50 ad have been getting BB to pricematch...

I've had some success getting deals (B2G1, buy the game get the guide, etc.) matched at Best Buy, and I've read of other people having success matching on here. It just depends on the manager you get.

Maybe you're thinking of Walmart? I know they're super strict on only matching prices.

Double-J: I would go in and use the ad to match the deal and get another copy of LA Noire and the game you want then return the unopened LA Noire with your $39.99 receipt at a later time.

That's what I'm thinking. I was hoping I could just walk up to customer service and have them adjust and I could hand them another $10, but we'll see.

If/when I returned the unopened LA Noire, will Best Buy give me back my cash, or will I get store credit? I'd rather avoid store credit if possible...

Edit: Just checked BB's page, I get my cash back. Cool beans.
